MGM refurbished all their rooms earlier this year. There was a mock up of a GT room in their foyer when we were there earlier this year and it looked really nice.

We have an Executive King Suite booked for next year with $75 dining credit. This deal is slightly cheaper, but with 2 free buffets instead of dining credit. Not sure if it's worth changing.

Got back from Vegas on Tues night after spending 7nights @ flamingo. We have stayed here twice before once in a Go room and once in a ordinary room, this time we stayed in a FAB room.It was nice but not as nice as the Go room, the best thing was the view ,we were right opposite Caesers n Bellagio.
We went with BA from Manchester to Gatwick then to LV.It was its inaugural flight and we were met with fire engines either side spraying their hoses over the plane and showgirls with cookies n drinks!
Hubby sed thank god they forewarned us over the fire engines otherwise he would have thought it was an emergency landing!!!
It was quite an exciting week as they were filming Hangover 3 and had blocked off all traffic in front of Bellagio as the Chinese man para glided down the strip whilst helicopters filmed his descent.
Halloween was fun downtown, the bus journey alone was hilarious with every form of fancy dress on board. The freaks n !!!!!s parade was good.
We actually did the LA in a day trip! we were picked up at 6am and arrived at Hollywood sign by 10.00.Went to Santa Monica beach and then on to Beverly HillsAte at the Cheesecake Factory on Rodeo Drive and did some window shopping. We then went on a tour of the area looking at stars houses, then on to Hollywood itself to see the sights,.last stop Graumans Chinese theatre to see the stars handprints, spent an hour here.Back on the road for 6 watching DVDs and back at hotel for 10.Its not everyone choice to do it this way but really enjoyed the experience
Also last it was a food festival and the man from Man v food was there(OH fav show).some of the restaurants had stalls there cooking burgers, ribs ect.Gordon Ramsey had one and was cooking tiny Kobe cheeseburgers for $5 what a bargain, delicious!!!
Weather was beautiful, hot in the day80's and cooler at night.Did Buffet of Buffets, waddled around for a day after that!!!!
Bought absolutely loads and had a panicky moment about getting it all home, but god love BA a very generous 23kg hand luggage!
The only down side was the flight back.We flew back via Heathrow and we were delayed leaving Vegas so missed our connecting flight to Manchester and then had to wait 5 hours for the next one,it felt like an endless journey home.
It was straight back to work, and in a meeting I could feel my eyes rolling and was about to nod off until a workmate prodded me awake!!!!!Gonna wait til Xmas to book for next year as we always find it cheaper then.
Just a note about the websites here for American food. The cheapest one I find is American Grocery, there poptarts seem cheaper then anyone else's.

Great stuff Hovis, sounds like a great trip! Was your LA-in-a-day trip an organised one? I know quite a few people who say LA isn't really worth staying in, so to do a day trip sounds quite a good idea, esp if you're taxi'd around the main sights

great rooms by all account, no casino and in an out of the way location, no atmosphere in the hotel itself

    I havent stayed there though

oyster.com is a great site for info and pics on all hotels.
