VALUE FOR MONEYIs the Thomas Cook flight just the flight or does that form part of a holiday ?
Gotta look at flights for a couple of friends who are meeting us out there in May, but were flying from heathrow, there up in Edinburgh....
Guess would be better for them to fly from Glasgow...
The Thomas Cook deal is for one specific date. They also don't fly regularly from Glasgow to Vegas, but instead have some flights dotted throughout the year. It is worthwhile checking their to see if they have the dates you want, but bear in mind they might just not be flying that week. It came up on a Kayak search for flight only.
You can fly from Glasgow via Philadelphia or Newark and from Edinburgh via Newark. Other flights available via London etc (eg BA fly Heathrow to Vegas, so can connect in Heathrow for a 1 stop). Thomas Cook would appear to be the only direct flight, but unfortunately random dates.0 -

Think worst case will be to get my friends to make there way to London for there flights...
Anyway, HOOTERS hotel.... Anyone stayed there ? I ate in the Mad Onion last year when we arrived (Stayed at the Trop).....
Am doing a little cost exercise, so having to consider Hooters hotel to keep my costs down...
Tripadvisor reviews are all over the place, but i guess for a head down and sunbathing place, it probably aint too bad ?
Guess it doesnt help i picked 23rd may to 1st June to go, which is that memorial weekend, which bumps prices everywhere!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrr !0 -

Orleans Stuie
Decent pool -good food at non Strip prices , huge rooms , free shuttle every 20 mins to the Strip til midnight (cab never paid more than $10 after midnight) Room to centre Strip probably quicker than hiking from Hooters.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

I never stayed at Hooters but I went there to gamble and drink quite a lot when I was there last June (I stayed at Trop too). I like it in there, low stakes. Location isn't great but it's only like 3 mins walk til you're at the big NYNY/MGM/Trop/Excalibur junction.0 -
CASINOSWork on the water park is underway and is scheduled to open May 2013, it was Splash Canyon but is now Wet n Wild, as it was called when it was on the Strip.
Really hope it gets completed as was looking forward to it this summer....its another reason to go back next summer!

I stayed at Hooters with my brother about 3 years ago. It was a bit of a last minute decision to go so our options at the cheaper end of the scale were limited and Hooters were offering a bargain rate (which I can't remember). We wangled a free upgrade from the bungalows (which I heard aren't too flash) to the tower. We thought it was fine. Saying that, we spend very little time in our room when in Vegas, and 95% of that time I had my eyes closed anyway. The rooms are not your typical Vegas room. They are supposedly Florida themed, with brightly coloured decor, tiled floors and 2 standard double beds, rather than the queensize that you usually get in Vegas. The TV was the old tube type, rather than a flat screen. The pool was adequate, though no match for most other casino pools, but for cheap food drinks and low limit gambling, it's good. I seem to remember that the small 'convenience' type shop there was very expensive with little to offer. In terms of location, we thought it was great. The MGM lobby entrance is directly across the road (with a crossing pretty much outside the front door) so we used MGM as the through route to the strip.
I would stay at Hooters again if it was cheaper than any strip hotel, but quite often you can get cheaper (and better) on the strip.
Hope this helps?0 -
Meant to mention, I enjoyed some low stakes gambling at NewYorkNewYork this year... they have a section with quite a few choices of games on their 'iTables' (like iPads' built into the table... dangerous concept!)
Anyways, they had $5 minimum, all day, every day on a select group of tables, and surprisingly I always managed to find a gap there.
What I liked about NYNY (having played on the $5 tables at the Trop too), was they had some tasty sidebets on some tables that you could do for $1 minimum, and carried good odds, that had a habbit of winning (for me).
Blackjack had a 'lucky lucky' bet, which paid out based on the two cards the player has, and the one card the dealer has face up (ie. if there are three 7's on show, you got a pay out, likewise if you got a 6,7,8, you also got payout etc etc).
3 Card Poker also had two sidebets of "Bad Beat Bonus" and "5 Card Bonus"(? - wasn't called that but its effectively what it was). Both could be played, even if after receiving your cards you chose not to play the hand.
Not really posted on here since we returned, however will try to upload some photos at some point
PS - mentioned that the 'iPad' approach is a dangerous concept, as unlike 'real' chips, you don't really notice your electronic chips going up and down so much (despite it telling you how much money you have!) - it is good however that you know you're actually getting paid the correct amount!!0
