Hi guys, need a bit of help.

I'm going to Vegas on 17th November for a week, and am wondering what the weather will be like. I've heard people say they've been in December and have walked around in shorts during the day (obviously the temperature dips on the evening), but the temperature details on websites are saying max of 18, which I don't think is very warm? Just after a bit of advice as we don't have much of a luggage allowance :(

Also, we're thinking of buying a ipad when we're out there. Has anyone been there when Black Friday is happening and what are the chances of getting a good deal that day?? Or don't they really reduce things like that? Do the shopping outlets reduce much either or is it a nightmare to go that day?

    Thanks all:beer:
We have been twice in November similar dates to yours. The first time in2008,the weather was lovely ,like a good summers day here but a little chilly at night, When we went in 2010 it was cool the first couple of days and then it rained so heavy and was really cold,I actually bought an umbrella and warm clothes as I didn't take any!
We go in two weeks time so I am watching the temperatures and hoping someone from this forum who are there can give us a regular weather update or I am taking a selection of all weather clothing!!

it's not actually no alcohol, it's no alcohol purchased other than from within the property, I think...they aren't the only hotel with that rule - but I've not heard of it being enforced too much before...given the lifts I have been in with people with cases of beer. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

This is the message I got:

"Hard rock wont let you bring any type of alchohol into your room! Mixed drinks or sealed bottles. Read there FAQ and terms and conditions. Its one of the only hotels that does this in LV."

I haven't checked it out. Just thought it was worth raising it.

Black Friday shopping in the States can be a nightmare. Depending on how good the teaser ads are, people start lining up in the dark hours. Think Boxing Day but worse. There are usually very limited quantities of electrical goods on offer as draws to get you in. WalMart usually has some good offers. I went to one of the suburban LV malls about 15 years ago on the Thursday, found it very quiet and some great deals. Having said that, LV's economy is still badly slumped so it could be very quiet or a nightmare. My American friends tend to do most of their Christmas Shopping over that weekend. i tend to avoid the States that weekend because it's just not relaxing. The Airports are crowded, airline personnel snappy and overworked.

we have been for Black Friday before and found shopping completely chaotic...my hubby still says Fry's looked like it was being looted...we spent ages in a queue at Circuit City and in the end both agreed it was absolutely not worth the savings for us...but we were not buying much. Obviously the more highly discounted stuff you are buying the more it may be worth your while.

When I lived in the US I would get all the ads the day before and plan my route based on what I most wanted...some stores will do limited quanity deals starting every couple of hours in the morning starting at 5 or 6am so there was some pinging around from store to store...it was very strategic, a near military-style operation...but by noon the Friday after Thanksgiving I usually had 90% of my shopping done...and it was nowhere near as bad as what we experienced in Vegas where I lived.

My sister is really small and really fast and she used to be most excellent at getting the deep discounted electronic items as she would get there early to be at or near the front of the queue and could bolt through that store to her item of choice...now she has 2 kids and says she's just too tired for that anymore. :)

Today has been a washout. It rained heavily during the night. Thunder and lightning, the works. Valley View, the road between Rio and Gold Coast had at least one lane completely flooded. Almost 4 pm and we have our first patch of blue sky.
