CASINOSWhat's the convention?
Also hoping Warped Tour hits Vegas while we're out there. Doubtful but we can wish.
It's a Celtic Supporters Convention, they have it every 2 years in June. I went to the one in 2010, was quality (I'm a big Celtic fan!). So hopefully the Vegas Warped date will be early enough for me to go to both that, and the last few days of the convention. Will find out in a month or two.Hi All,
Been a while since i was last on here... off to Vegas next April on a stag do.
Does anyone have any websites or info on Vegas for stag do's???
I fear it could be hard getting into bars and clubs with large male groups. My my previous trip to Vegas was with a mix group so didn't have that problem.
We booked MGM with Virgin direct flights for £660 which i thought was a good price for those who are interested in prices.
Last trip got cancelled due to the Ash Cloud so cant wait to get back!!!!
Thanks!
That's definitely a good price! Is that flying from London? How many nights in the MGM? What dates? Great price if it's for a week!0 -
Well - we're here!
Flew from Glasgow to heathrow then onto Vegas with Ba on world traveller plus. Flight easier than I imagined it was going to be. Watched 3 films and slept for 3 hours (with the help of a sleeping tablet as can never usually sleep on planes). Meals were lovely Landed in Vegas 7pm Vegas time which was 45mins late so not bad. Got off the plane and were through immigration within 10mins (we appeared to be the only flight landing right then). Straight outside and into a taxi but forgot to ask him not to take the tunnell (doh) and only remembered as we drove through it. Never mind. Came to $28 to the cosmopolitan.
Checked in at Cosmo using the VIP check in to right of the usual check in as we had a letter through from Virgin last week telling us to use this. All other desks had queues but the VIP was empty so we were seen immediately. Guy on the desk was ok - bit OTT for my liking but that's no crime. Took 15mins to check in with him phoning somewhere while he was entering our details to confirm a room was ready. He told us he had got us an upgrade but although I am happy with what we have I'm not sure it's an upgrade. We booked a terrace studio overlooking the fountains and that's what we have, however it's on the curve of the building, and built for wheelchair users so the room is bigger and the bathroom is huuuuuuggggge. It does have the Japanese soaking tub overlooking the fountains which I don't think we were supposed to have so maybe it's an upgrade right enough? On check in he explained as part of the virgin package we have free brunch 8am to 2pm in the wicked spoon every day, and 2 free cocktails in the chandelier bar, and free wi-fi (for which the code is mgold and i know i read somewhere weeks ago that was the code so they maybe don't change it) Anyway, room lovely, perfectly clean and no housekeeping issues on arrival. The fridge was completely empty so after unpacking, and on our way out to buy supplies, we stopped by reception to let them know. We said we'd like to leave it empty so we could use it but to make sure we weren't charged for it. Girl was lovely and noted that it was empty on arrival and therefore not chargeable and confirmed we were free to use it. We went out of the 2nd floor exit, crossed the bridge to Walgreens and came back with water, beer milk etc. easy peasy. I have a travel kettle with me as I need a cup of tea in the morning.
We stayed up til 11:30 sitting on the balcony watching the bellagio fountains and the comings and goings on the strip (incredible view) but by that time I was bone achingly tired so had to give up and go to bed.
I woke up just before 4am wide awake and starving :-( thus the visit in here to try and tire myself out to have another couple of hours sleep. When I woke I could hear the dull thump thump of the music from the marquee club as others had mentioned but it wasn't loud enough to disturb me. Out on the balcony I could hear the music properly. There had beens loads of reports on TA about how it disturbed people's sleep so I had brought ear plugs just in case but I don't think I'll need them! We are on the 40th floor btw.
Anyway looking forward to getting out and about later to start seeing some hotels etc. will probably take long enough just exploring the cosmo as we were too tired last night so only saw the chandelier bar and some shops as we passed. We did see lots of youngsters all geared up for their nights out (we are 39 & 40) so am looking forward to some quality people watching. The outfits so far were fab!
If anyone has any cosmos related questions feel free to ask as I will probably pop on here daily as I'd mentioned before.0 -

Sounds like your having a good start to the Cosmo...thanks for the wi-fi code.....we're heading to Vegas for the first time next Friday and staying at the Cosmo via Virgin Holidays. Might sound strange, but what are the dress codes for the main hotels/casino's?
If you get a chance, can you let us know about the restuarants as we're on honeymoon, we're looking for somewhere 'posh' to eat
Have fun!0 -

absolutely anything goes really... you could be suited and booted and sat next to someone in flipflops and shorts, and no-one would bat an eyelid.
obviously there are a few places where you might 'feel' a little under-dressed, but you will generally see all sorts of people in all sorts of outfits in all sorts of venues0 -
