VALUE FOR MONEYTrip report - part 4 (last one!)
Gambling
we really are low-rollers, and not brave/knowledgeable enough to play any of the tables (will do some of the free lessons next time!), so we stick to the flashy glittery video slots! So we spent a lot of time on Dark Knight, The Hangover, Star Wars, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Michael Jackson, Ghostbusters... we only ever stick in a $20 bill and run that down with minimum credit/x2 all line games... or cash out if we hit $50+ and move on. i didn’t cash out much at all, but OH had success on The Hangover a couple of times, so got some spending money for a new bag or two! That, and Dark Knight were probably our faves, MJ the least fave.
General observations
I wouldn’t say that the homeless/beggars problem is any better/worse than our previous visits in the last couple of years, there were certainly fewer !!!!!! slappers about and they were not as in-your-face.
Taxi driver from airport gave us an option on which route to take, we did end up getting tunneled, but left the choice to him as he knew what the traffic was like... and being friday afternoon, when we got the the Strip, it was pretty busy so looks like he made the best choice.
There’s free wifi in public places at Vdara and Aria, should you ever be there... they can be added to the list of free placesCan’t believe Caesars Palace wanted $10 for 2 hours’ access!

We've been in October a few times, and it sometimes does get a little chilly (not overly so) at night, but it's more towards the end of October so if you aren't sure, just take something light like a tracksuit top. Through the day it's still is quite warm at that time of year, so T-shirts/shorts will be ok. I can't comment on the pools, but I'd rather shop than lounge :rotfl:
BTW first time we went, we had the news on one morning and the weather chappie said "better dig out those sweaters, it's going to be a chilly 95 - 99 degrees out there" :eek::eek: So clothes wise - that should help lol :rotfl:BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.
comping = nowt more thrillin' than winnin':T :j0 -

It should be warm enough for shorts, it usually is, but last year was a bit on the cool side in October. The temperature does drop quite quickly when it gets dark.
The pools should be open for most of October, it depends where you're staying.0 -

SHOPPINGWe stayed at the Mirage in June and were impressed with it.When we checked in they were going to charge the resort fee but as we were staying for ten days they said we didn't have to pay it which was a saving of $200+.We would defo stay there again. We are goin to be there for Halloween and I have just read that you can walk round Madam Tussauds in the dark with just a glow stick to guide you!Unfortunately my OH is so not up for it,what a wuss!!!0

The problem is ,when im on the flamingo website its telling me i can only book the Go room up until thurs as all the Go rooms including minisuites are booked up for the entire weekend after that, yet when i go through another travel site say, hotels.com or trivago it lets me book a Go room for the entire week ? i dont want to book through a travel site and then find when i get there , there are only the basic rooms actualy available, would rather book direct with them if only for 4 days, and then change hotels, or do i trust the travel sites ? any info is appreciated ,,, thanks
That time in November is always iffy to book. American Thanksgiving and the Black Friday Sales bring in tons of people. And there's a marathon in Vegas around December 1st, so there will be people there for that. I seem to remember that there is also a huge IT convention that usually goes on around that time as well.0 -
Hi, I'm looking to book Vegas for November 2012, Limited by Manchester only and want a direct flight, looked at direct with Virgin, then had a look at Thomas Cook who do Virgin holidays and the price for say the Flamingo for a week is roughly £400 cheaper with TC, this reads exactly the same T&C as the Virgin site. All comparable Virgin holidays to Vegas are way cheaper through TC.
Am I missing something, or is there anywhere else I should be looking?
Thanks for any info.0 -
HOTELSI think the scoot city tour has gone from Groupon, I must admit I find the site a right pain to use as it tries to pick deals closest to the part of Vegas you have set up. This does tend to miss some deals, I recommend logging in as well as again you get more choice than just browsing.
Luckily I picked one up last week following a tip off from here, booked it today and got my first choice so really pleased.0
