IMO you would be mad to do it after such a long flight,

    +1 also
but I have never driven in the states, but quite fancy it and as the flight arrives at 13.00 so a 5 hour drive is no problem, the question is how easy is it to drive in the states for the first time especially getting out of L A and onto the I15, anyone done it.

As others have said you will be on GMT so it will be 21:00 for you when you land.
Give about say at least 1hr (likely 2hr) to get into the hire car then it's 23:00 and you're on your way.
The Interstate can be packed mid afternoon (and TBHO at most other times!) so drive times could vary-but at least with the high volume of traffic this should keep you awake:eek:
The worst bit will be the long boring drive once you're out of the city. So easy to fall asleep  What time will you have left your house in Aberdeen?

If you're driving with another person it may be safer as they can navigate or take turns-

IMHO I'd go with the extra flight a LOT less hassle and about the same cost and you really don't need a car in LAS.

Id say stay over in LA for one night.....take in some sights in the afternoon, early evening until you drop, do Hollywood Boulevard next morning, and leave for Vegas at lunchtime.

I like having a car in Vegas.

Thanks for all your answers , and after taking everything into consideration we have decided not to drive and to take a flight from LA to Vegas @ about £60 each if I book it now , still works out about £100 per person cheaper than a BA or virgin flight direct to vegas , and at least it gets immigration out of the way before we get to vegas.

Right phase 2 , start looking for hotels , going for 10 nights and allready have 4 nights in a grand suite @the stratosphere and $300 on my slot card(they offered me this for last year but couldnt go so I e-mailed them and asked if they would honour it for this year and the said no problem ), 6 nights to find probably Ballys or PH Westgate.

Roll on trip number 5 ,sept 10th and counting.

usually they will email them to you if you are signed up at restaurant.com - but this thread on openvegas.com normally has the current code showing.

    Hi everyone.

We've booked 3 nights in Las Vegas as part of our honeymoon (going to see the Grand Canyon) and in-between Chicago and San Fran.

Just wondering when the best time to book a show would be? We're going mid-May 2012 and unfortunately it looks like Cirque du Soleil isn't running on the nights that we'll be there (Sunday 13th - Tuesday 15th before flying to SF).

I've found Jersey Boys is fairly well received. It's moving to Paris Las Vegas soon. The cheapest tickets however are $120 each plus taxes and they are bad ones, so it's looking more like $160+ per ticket.

So should I book them now or do they tend to have offers nearer the time?

We're staying in The Signature at MGM Grand so not too far away :)

80% is normally the max, very occasionally a 90% code comes out...probably after tomorrow some new certificates will be released and the code will go back to 50% and work its way back to 80%...I think that's how it normally works but not 100% sure as we normally buy ours at 80% and then kind of forget about it.

Thanks Ferf. Has anyone bought tickets to Penn and Teller via travelzoo? I have attempted to buy some, went all the way to confirm and after i clicked that it said "added to basket" I can't see the basket and have yet to receive an email. You have to put the credit card details in before confirmation so jsut wondered if tkts have been bought.
