VALUE FOR MONEYcan people stop biting on Baza's posts now please, and return to the fun, informative thread it was before (and has been for years)? DNFTT.
I think the 'discussion' just proves what a great place LV is because there is something for everyone, and you could go a dozen times or more and have a different type of holiday each time.
so anyway... do people have a favourite place to eat the first night you get there? our habit is now to wander over to Miracle Mile and get some grub from Cheeseburger. It's not Michelin starred, but does really good comfort food... perfect for that first night when you're a bit pooped!0 -
looks like maybe 5pm? Assuming this info is current.

There's also more than just booze in the blender. It also renders a mermaid. Every 45 minutes or so starting about 5, the song "Volcano" is played, employees come out on stilts, and tables in the bar area are moved back a bit from the giant "margarita" pitcher.
Suddenly, the volcano-shaped roof springs to life, a beautiful girl in a bikini comes sliding down the volcano and splashes into the pitcher. She's then lifted out and twirls around on a fish hook for a while.0 -
Me snobby? lol.
I just cant see the attraction with doing laundry on holiday.
loads of stuffed snipped.
We also think that anybody who does laundry while on holiday must have a screw loose, but as we get older we realise not everyone looks at things the way we do.
For years I've said we will never stay in the Orleans again. I don't want to see queues of hispanics stretching out the hotel cashing in their pay cheques, and I don't want a pool that is in the shade to well into late morning (depends on time of year). It's the only place one of us has ever had food poinsoning ...but we did watch HP 3D there last summer on it's release date. (Then again we wouldn't rush back to the Bellagio again - for us, the most over-rated hotel in Vegas)
(if we stop off-strip to avoid the weekends we tend towards the Palace Station, or travel further afield away from Vegas)
In all these years, never been to EI and have no intention of ever going there - to be honest I couldn't tell you where it is!
I've always questioned why people would pay hundreds on a flight and then eat carp. Stripburger...!!!!!! .....the first restaurant.com cert. to sell out each month. Crazy. I'll eat burgers while I'm there, but I much prefer good quality food than cheap, (and often nasty) adequate buffet/burgers etc.
...but everyone is different and if it makes then happy then good for them. We won't be associating with them so we really don't care what anybody does or gets out of Vegas ...as long as it doesn't affect us (like, as someone just said, smoking next to us in the casino or restaurant).
Despite having nothing in common with 95% of the posters here, occassionally you do pick up something new that's worth further investigation and if you see stuff you don't agree with, or someone asking the question that's been answered hundreds of times before....just try and let it flow over you and move on to something else. You know the same people will post the same answer no matter what....0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYI heard motley crew were opening a strip club in vegas? my girlfriend loves motley crew and wants to go LOL! so basically everything is easy enough to get to with either a bit of walking or buses etc?
The easiest (and cheapest) way to get to the strip club in question is take the shuttle from the side of Bills to the Orleans and walk across to it.

Is this what you mean?0 -
CASINOSI have been three times and have stayed on the strip every time so far (MGM, Tropicana, Vdara [does that count?!]). I really like staying on the strip because I like being within an accessible distance of a variety of casinos each day.
I am quite keen to stay in Bill's next time, for the number of reasons:
- location is perfect for exploring the strip
- it's cheap
- the poker room there is perfect for me, I love the 50c/$1 NLH game
- it's right around the corner from the $1.99 hot dog + beer deal
Has anyone here stayed at Bill's? I don't see the name pop up very often! I know it's not the nicest hotel in the world but for the reasons above I'd love to stay there. I think you get access to someone else's pool too (Flamingo I think? Or Bally's?) and apparently you can steal their wifi too for free!0 -

if you find my screw, can you post it back
it works for us, if there's a washer and dryer in the room, you just need to get some liquid/powder from CVS... it takes 1min to put some washing in, 1min to take it out and whack it in the dryer. do these before you go out for the day/evening, and hey presto! then there's nothing to do when you get home and can carry on relaxing
I might set up a Facebook group for Vegas Launderers...0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYWe have stayed there several times. It's just fine if you don't expect luxury. Easiest room to strip journey in Vegas, and most of the staff are pleasant. Small bathrooms though.0

or you can bring a few wrapped tablets and some dryer sheets from home...that way you'll have stuff that smells like you're used to.
I seriously used to nearly be in tears at facing the pile of laundry on returning home - so depressing, holiday over, back to work in a day or so and all this to sort out...it's bad enough coming back to real life without having that to deal with, I think...so works for me.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

But Stripburger isn't exactly cheap - not for a burger (that comes with no sides, have to be ordered separately if you want them)? That's why the certificates sell out early every month...we have gone without a certificate before and paid full price, but much prefer to have a discount if we can...why not if it's available?
For clarity, I think most would not frequent a restaurant that they thought was poor quality just because it's cheap...I know I certainly wouldn't. I would also pay more for something that I thought was good quality than eat something cheap because it's cheap.
Just because something is inexpensive doesn't necessarily mean it's poor quality in a place like Vegas where food prices are often slashed by casinos in order to draw in customers in the hopes they will stop and gamble.
Some of the cheap options are, IMHO, poor quality and I wouldn't bother...like the Ho Dog (may it RIP)...I dragged my hubby over to Westward Ho to have one as everyone at Open Vegas seemed to say they were the most awesome things ever...both of us took one bite - not sure we even swallowed, may have spit them out...and threw them away. Worst thing ever to me. Hubby still has not let me live that 'must do' down...but many thought they were great...so.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
