So what was your initial reason to go to vegas?
    What attracted you?
Are you a "typical" Vegas visitor? or a more mature traveller that likes sun and home comforts?

I can recommend Benidorm, lots of cheap places to eat, Kebab shops, pizza and pot noodles. not to mention the disability scooters you can hire and pg tips in the the local shops.

Join the MyVegas Friends group on facebook and see what people really want from Vegas. If you ask nicely ill add you....

We hike, sightsee, visit friends, see show, eat nice meals, visit museums, national monuments and attractions and generally explore the different parts of Vegas. There is just a little bit more to the place than the strip, but you probably wouldn't want to know about any of that.

What is a typical Vegas visitor? I don't know, so please tell me.

I live part of the time in Benidorm, but not on the Levante end, and there are some excellent restaurants in and around the area if you'd like some recommendations. There are some very interesting places to visit there too.

Too late on the myVegas friends, I've been a member for quite some time.

Thats the problem here. your little "click" are too old to give a real view of vegas.
Its like a little club you have going here.

Why do you even care?! Im bright enough (and hope that people bright enough to be online researching their holiday before they book/go are too) to take a whole view of what I read on this forum and elsewhere on the internet and make my decisions based on that. Its clear from reading what people post what their preferences are and what sorts of things they like doing. It would be a pretty stupid 21 year old who got the impression from reading this forum that Ellis Island is all about maximum vegas and strippers!

What makes the casino in Orleans any different to Aspers, Mecca etc in london?

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

anyone who has been to Orleans and any London casino would clearly know the answer to that.

We're always excited to hear about new places, reviews of things that few or none of us have done and we'll pass that info on too. Did you have some suggestions to contribute?

As for being too old to give a real view of Vegas...that just makes no sense. I would absolutely agree that we don't have our finger on the pulse of the club scene - but other than that, we recommend all kind of things to younger folks all the time in line with the sorts of things they say they want to do.

    As for this

Are you really saying one of the reasons you go to vegas is to watch films in a cinema? are you sure your not just watching them cos the hotel is sooooo boring and your killing time?

Watching films in a cinema is no one's reason to go to Vegas. You know that, you're just being rude. You know that too. We have seen several films in Vegas before they have come out in the UK. Also we regularly used to go to see films in DLP before it was available here. We like watching movies in the cinema and rarely do at home as it's just too much of a faff...but occasionally do in Vegas. And we have never even stayed at Orleans. And if you think that watching a downloaded film on a PC, phone or telly is similar to seeing it in a theatre, then obviously we're very different in that respect.

I don't think anyone really ever takes issue with alternate opinions here - if you actually gave an opinion about something specific other than 'no one wants to do that in Vegas' or 'why would anyone want to do that in Vegas?' you might see...if you could manage to give an opinion without seeming like you are criticising those with an alternate opinion, that would be a tad more constructive.

And that's the last I'll say on the whole topic as anymore it's seeming alarmingly close to feeding time...I hope it isn't though.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Why do you have to be young to have a real view of Vegas? It isn't San Antonio or Faliraki.

There is a wealth of knowledge from the regulars on this thread. We don't all like the same things so can give wide range of views, but none of us diss someone else's opinion just because it doesn't agree with our own.

FWIW I wouldn't recommend an off strip hotel for a first timer. In fact even with trip 15 coming up, we still prefer to stay on strip. That's assuming you regard the Carriage House as on strip.

Oh and I'm the one that said we got the same room as last time. I can't see what your problem is with that. We move hotels about 4 times per trip and have stayed everywhere from the Four Seasons, Bellagio and Casears to the Sahara and IP.

Where do you normally stay that we all seem to be missing out on?

Well im glad we are getting some "honest" reviews now. Why doesnt anyone mention the clubs, poker rooms etc in this thread. Im aware this is MSE but hang on, we are talking Vegas here.
Vegas will never be MSE all the time it costs you £600+ just to get there.

Im just saying the whole thread has become rather stale, regulars reviewing the same hotels and giving the impression its the best choice for anyone.
When you big up a hotel and your a regular poster people will take your word for it.
I would hate to to vegas for the first time and stay at the O or similar only to realise when i got there that it wasnt my idea of Vegas.

Why not give a real review, like saying how long it would take to walk to say bellagio or even the strip.
Saying you can cut through Ballys via the sportsbook or whatever gives the impresion that its a short trip when in fact it could be a 20-30 min walk.

Your posts are getting stranger. If anyone asks a question about clubs, distances, a particular hotel, poker room etc, they are answered with specific details, not forgetting there are many links on the first page.

http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/ is a great place for all those questins/answers as well BUT be warned the Orleans is often recomended in the off strip hotel catergory

I have never paid £600 for a flight.

I have never been to the cinema in Vegas but why doyou have a problem with people that do, infact why do you have a problem with people that do anything that you dont?

I first stayed at the Orleans to save on the high weekend rates on the strip(nothing to do with it being recomended on here) and since that first visit have been comped every year since.

the difference between this thread/forum and Vegasmessage board is this one isnt split in to catergories so it does become a jumble of questions and answers whereas the VMB is split into catergories so it is easy to skip headings like Offstriphotels that you have no interest in

You should join the MyVegas friends group on Facebook. I cashed in (and the wife) 25,000 each and we are well on the way to another 50,000 LP's each before we go in October.
TBH, I just can't be faffed with it anymore... though I like the theme tune when you first load the game :D

odd question of the day / week / month / thread

re: the mermaid at Margaritaville (That slides down into a massive margarita glass)

Anyone know when that occurs? We've been in for lunch before and not seen anything so assuming it doesn't happen every hour, all day long

    Ta :D
i'm aware this was posted in the middle of a long discussion about sardine tins that fly through the sky, so reposting just in case... does anyone have any ideas? a mate was asking me about it :)

not sure if this question is more suited to the cool kids, the middle-agers, or the vegas seniors (they certainly didn't stipulate a preference as to who should answer it) so happy for anyone to answer it ;):D

    To 21yearold

If you really are only 21 years old you will have no problem in sprinting up and down the Strip, but there's plenty of buses if you need a rest. Its only when you get old like me you need to worry about the distances. There are a few rides/roller coasters in circus circus adventuredome, and stratosphere, new york new york have rides. Primm Valley hotels have roller coasters, log flume rides and arcades you can buy daily wristbands. Motley crue were last feb at Hardrock don't know if still there

Thats the one i was on about, stratosphere!! they seem really fun rides!

I'm not now 21 im no 25 so buses might be the best option for me hehe

I heard motley crew were opening a strip club in vegas? my girlfriend loves motley crew and wants to go LOL! so basically everything is easy enough to get to with either a bit of walking or buses etc?

looks like maybe 5pm? Assuming this info is current.

    http://www.pubclub.com/lasvegas/margaritaville.htm

There's also more than just booze in the blender. It also renders a mermaid. Every 45 minutes or so starting about 5, the song "Volcano" is played, employees come out on stilts, and tables in the bar area are moved back a bit from the giant "margarita" pitcher.

Suddenly, the volcano-shaped roof springs to life, a beautiful girl in a bikini comes sliding down the volcano and splashes into the pitcher. She's then lifted out and twirls around on a fish hook for a while.
