yep, if you look at a pic like this you'll see a row of windows behind the cockpit on an upperdeck... that's what the staircase inside is for0 -

also, the newly refurbed layout is called:
Boeing 747-400 (Seating configuration LGW-1) link
the 'old' layout is called:
Boeing 747-400 (Seating configuration 1) link
you'll see these names at the top of seating chart where you can select your seats (after logging in to your booking online)
the bubble is the upper deck, previously where UC / PE (?) seats were. on paper, the benefit of sitting up there is it's like having your own tiny little cabin... so like a much smaller tin of sardines
but to be fair, you can still get babies wailing up there, people kicking the back of your seat, and all the other joys of travelling ECO
it might not turn out to be much better than the lower deck, but on paper it's more appealing I think!
thanks for that im looking at our seat and its in purple all the others are in grey, looks like its the old plane there and back I hope not though, I will keep checking to see if it changes.

sometimes the ability to select/change seats is locked out - which is what you're seeing at the moment.
it's worth continually checking though, as all this week for our booking (and last week, probably longer!) all seats were greyed out and the layout was the old one.
however at some point overnight, 2.5 days before flight time, the seating plan updated to the new layout and we could select/change seats.
So it really can be quite random, so be on the ball!
i think i read that the aircraft you will fly on cannot be confirmed until, at most, 6 days before departure.0 -

SHOWSthe missus had an arguments with her mates new boyfriend a few weeks ago about this - he insisted (having been with his mates), that she shouldn't be going to Vegas on holidays as it was no place for a women to go
I have no idea what 'unsuitable for women' activities he was getting up to whilst he was there:rotfl:
I'd think I'd be advising my mate to dump the new fella :rotfl::rotfl:
As for the hotel snobbery thing -I've stayed at some of the nicest hotels on the Strip but I still like returning to the Orleans as it has a much nicer vibe than some of the Strip places. I like the space to spread myself in their rooms too-They aren't uber cool but they are comfortable and the staff have almost all worked there a long time and are friendly. I still haven't found the laundrette though (probably cos it doesn't have one). The pool is also nicer than many of the Strip hotels too -and you don't need a second mortgage to buy a drink poolsideI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I just cant see the attraction of staying anywhere but a strip hotel.
People that are new to this forum and going on their first trip are told about how good the "O" is or how good "EI" is. we also get told about out of the way cheap eateries, anything groupon has to offer and not forgetting anyone asking for somewhere nice to eat will get Mon Ami Gabi suggested as the best.
I understand we all have our own idea of a vegas holiday but just look at the results of the poll. Casinos come out top with hotels and value for money coming 2nd and 3rd.
Theres value for money and there is cheap bland.
For me, Vegas is all about experiencing whats best and new in vegas not staying in the same place because its cosy.
Im sure someone posted they were happy as they got the same room as last year.
Isnt that like going to easbourne every year and staying in the same guesthouse?
Im glad we have had a trip report giving their honest opinion of some places suggested.
I for one would never think of going to Ellis Island for their value BBQ etc when i could have better on the strip.
When you add up the cost of your flights and hotel its not a cheap holiday. A lot of people are prepared to splash out just cos its Vegas.0 -
SHOWSYou are kind of missing the point ........
Not everyone wants to stay bang on Strip -some people prefer to stay within easy reach but away from the madness and there are several very expensive hotels just off Strip exactly for that reason.
Not everyone wants to stay in a different hotel room or suite every trip-some people like familiarity --be it the same loft suite at MGM or the same B&B in Eastbourne you mention with disdain.
Why on earth do you care what other people are doing on holiday anyway Baza ? What difference does it make to your holiday ?
Value for money doesn't equate to cheap anyway -For me I had a great rate at CP (Augustus Tower) but crap service -I paid the same for the Orleans later in the trip and felt it was better value as it wasn't about how much I'd saved it was about how much enjoyment I'd got for my money. However Vegas survives on people who are prepared to pay through the nose to be seen in the right places -the rest of us just benefit as a side effect. Now that really IS MSE.
Mon Ami is a great suggestion for a Vegas first timer -all the iconic sights as Vegas lights up for the evening -I honestly can't see why you're biatching about that -Honestly you must be the most miserable person to meet on vacation !!I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I agree not everyone wants to stay on strip, just look at the post by the regulars here but i thinky you will will find most people DO want to saty on strip.
You say some want to stay away from the madness, for some thats what they want. Crowds, noisy casinos flashing neon etc.
What was your first reason to go to vegas? to stay off strip and avoid the crowds?
Vegas is Vegas, in my opinion i could stay up london for a week and save the airfare and visit a casino every day.
Whats makes you think im bothered what others choose to do on holiday. I have my own holiday to think about.
As for me being miserable on vacation lol. Im the kind of person your trying to avoid. One that enjoys Vegas for what it is.0
