It was suspended as they were upgrading their systems.
You still wont know if you get a refubed plane untill you checkin 24hrs before your flight.

currently 3 out of the 7 have had a refit with the 4th due any time.
This will make the Gatwick fleet up there with the best of them.

The refurb photos were literally back to bare metal, so I would agree its going to be good. The Alitalia planes were just a Virgin paint job......toilets etc had signs in Italian.

hello all, i am flying out to vegas with US airways. anyone done that? do you know if we go through all the check in at the first stop or not until we get to vegas? would be nice to do all the time wasting at the first stop. Also how bad is US airlines, i have not seen it much talked about on here and it was £300 cheaper than flying with BA or Virgin at the time of booking.

odd question of the day / week / month / thread

re: the mermaid at Margaritaville (That slides down into a massive margarita glass)

Anyone know when that occurs? We've been in for lunch before and not seen anything so assuming it doesn't happen every hour, all day long

    Ta :D

Last year flew US Air to LAS via Charlotte. You need to pick up your luggage in Charlotte, then walk literally 20 yards to the connection bag drop. You wont need to check in again.....just walk on the excellent walkways to the LAS gate.

I thought they suspended it cos they didnt know what plane would be flying on a date, and whether it would be upgraded or not, and therefore what seats would be on the plane.

So sounds slightly barking to switch it back on again.

I thought it was both the uncertainty of what aircraft and therefore what layout and the system upgrade...I assume that for economy much of the seating plan is the same between the two (haven't checked) so they can open some seating for selection earlier than originally planned, maybe?

Looks like PE selections will be available from 8th October now.

Premium Economy seat reservations unavailable on our leisure fleet from 1 April 2012 until 8 October 2012
We are busy refurbishing all the aircraft that fly out of Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow; designing new seats and state of the art in-flight entertainment to make your flight more comfortable and more fun than ever before. The Premium Economy cabin on the lower deck will be larger but more exclusive and all the seat numbers are changing.

The upgrades to our fleet are almost completed and therefore you will be able to select your Premium Economy seats via Manage my flights or your travel agent from 8 October 2012.

so that's why we still cannot select our seats for October as we're flying PE next time...thanks for the update...I knew I wasn't going mad, thank you for confirming...we have flown with virgin quite a few times and I understand that historically we have been able to select seats at the time we book our tickets (and yes, baza, I know they can move you, they have before :)).

They only move people who do laundry in Vegas though !!

(Still waiting for Baza to explain the connection between laundry and the Orleans however )
