Yep I know about that one, I meant actually in Miracle Mile, but it has been clarified now. I like to know where I can get all my treats from before we walk back to the hotel in the evenings!
I cant wait to go to the new Walgreens, I love nothing more than an hour in an american chemist!0 -
CASINOSThe pool at Vdara is nice. There isn't much natural shade but there are plenty of big parasols which can be put up. The lifeguards there are really great guys, we had a lot of fun chatting to them! One thing I will say though is that the jacuzzi/hot pool is BOILING. Maybe my skin is sensitive but it felt like I was in a kettle, couldn't stay in for more than about 30 secs.
A tip if you're at the Vdara pool is you can ask the towel guy for ice and he'll go and bring you a cupful/bucketful. Handy for keeping drinks cool.
And the market place at Vdara does incredible breakfast bagels. Not particularly cheap, about $7-$9 I think, but they're pretty filling and really tasty.0 -
hi,
we are heading on honeymoon in 6 weeks, and are staying NY NY for 5 nights & 5 nights at cosmopolitan
Has anyone used the pools at either of these hotels?
My last trip was in November, so didnt get to use the pools then.
This is probably a really stupid question, but are towels provided or do you bring your own down to the pools? Never been outside of Europe & used an outdoor pool lol
Thanks in advance0 -
towels are provided on your way out to the pool usually...
NYNY have had a pool 'refresh' recently - we stayed there a few years ago and apparently its been made a lot 'bigger'. We went in May a few years ago so it was quiet, but could imagine it feeling 'crowded' in summer!

re: Cosmo - we wont stay there till after you've been, so be sure to let us know what its like - don't forget film night on Mondays either (if its still on there!)0 -
hi all,
back again (sorry) i tried that link on the first page again for a price for a taxi from the platinum to a walmart but either i am doing it wrong or it aint working ( i'm probably doing it wrong tbh) does anyone know roughly how much a taxi would be?
also we had origonally planned on staying in the platinum for 7 nights but have now decided on just 5 ... should i let them know before we go that we are just staying 5 nights now or should i just tell them when we arrive?
still trying to get a sat nav the one on the other page ( thankyou who ever put the link to it) went for either £70 or £77 i cant quite remember which and i reckon it will be cheaper to just get on in walmart when we go so will look into that i think
car hire : we have hired a car for the end of our stay in vegas to last us till we get to sanfran ... someone has told me that we need a seperate insurance for california does anyone know anything about this? we have basic cdw will that be enough ? or should we go for extra insurance?
cant think of anything else just now but we have just over a week till we go so we really are getting everything tied down now0 -
Noticed there's a coupon here for free entry to Lucilles Duelling Pianos (at BB Kings in Mirage):

Think cover for BB's cost us $5 each last time we went (even though we were just wanting food) so could be useful!0 -

We normally go the one on West Charleston Blvd, for that one it says:That cab ride would cost about $17.70. That is roughly $20 with a 15% tip. It is about 5.3 miles.also we had origonally planned on staying in the platinum for 7 nights but have now decided on just 5 ... should i let them know before we go that we are just staying 5 nights now or should i just tell them when we arrive?still trying to get a sat nav the one on the other page ( thankyou who ever put the link to it) went for either £70 or £77 i cant quite remember which and i reckon it will be cheaper to just get on in walmart when we go so will look into that i think

re: insurance, I've not heard of this, but would think you should be covered if you have booked to pickup in Nevada and drop off in California - again, check with who you are renting with - its best to having something in writing off them than internet peoples opinionscant think of anything else just now but we have just over a week till we go so we really are getting everything tied down now0 -

I get the same as nvh when I use the site on page 1 (and we regularly go to the same one mentioned, on West Charleston, for our first shop...there's one on Eastern too, but think it's farther away).
But do check into options to get a taxi back - you normally cannot hail a taxi on the street, so may need to call - it may be that the folks at WalMart will call one for you.
Depending on how much you need, appears you could get there by bus with 1 change...would take about an hour though each way.
You can put your start and end addresses in and see the options and route.

You could get 2 3-day bus passes (including the SDX and Deuce) for the price of the return taxi fare...though depending on how much you wanted to buy, it may be more than you would want to carry...and you may prefer not to faff with the buses and just take a taxi...but seems like a relatively easy option (I should note that I have never done it myself!)Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
