  • Thanks for getting back. We are doing 14 days trip from Phoenix to San Fran via Sedona, GC, Death Valley, Yosemite, Carmel to SF so 2 days is all we can spare, and we are trying to keep budget low as poss as its going to be an expensive trip for us when all is included.

I've read so much over last week I have hotel overload! Thought we won't spend much time in hotel, will be out seeing as much as we can.

I'm willing to spend about £120 ish for the 2 nights, if you can suggest better for me?

I'm new to finding best hotel prices, and new to Vegas, and would be grateful if someone can advise if this is a good deal, as there seem to be so many offers around, its hard to choose.

We want to book 2 nights from Tuesday 4th Sept for 2, in middle of the strip, and found Ballys North Tower for $104 total incl tax, from their web site.

Please can anyone give opinions if this is good deal, or have other suggestions?

Is that definately for the North Tower? $104 for 2 nights (or is that £104?) If so price seems pretty good to me...North Tower will probably not have much of a chance of a great view, but some chance of an OK view - South Tower has better chance of fountain view, but older rooms and no guarantee of a fountain view...slightly longer walk from the front of the hotel/valet (but slightly closer to the self-park garage and pool). Room will be larger than most standard rooms at mid-range hotels, which is one thing that we like about them.

Bally's isn't fancy, but to me it sounds like it would suit your needs...the casino isn't as exciting as some, but sometimes we like that, as sometimes it can all be a bit overwhelming.

It may be nice as others have suggested to push for something a bit more Vegassy for only 2 nights and mid-week though...but £120 for 2 nights may not be quite enough to push to something more fancy. You're right that you won't be in the room much...so really personal decision as to whether it's worth splashing out for a room somewhere a bit more upscale.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Your choice of Ballys is fine but you may struggle for a fountain view, but to gtee a fountain view anywhere is going to cost you more than £120.

having said that you could prob get a strip view room at Flamingo for that price and would be able to see the fountains (a side view looking over bills would be best)

Planet Hollywood has some good fountain views as does Cosmopolitan and Bellagio of course but for lots more money.

I wouldnt chose the Vdara ..not for a 2 night stopover as it isnt a casino hotel and for me doesnt have the "atmosphere" of Vegas

If it was me I would book the hotel I wanted for the right price, prob Ballys or Flamingo and then hope for the view with a $20 tip

    hope that all makes sense
  • Just been on web site and price has increased slightly!! the offer was 25% off and North Tower deluxe is now $.115.92incl tax. The South Tower Classic is $65.52 incl tax. that's for 2 days for 2 people. Other rooms don't have that offer. Most people seemed to say North Tower was best, anyone now which rooms to ask for ?

If room/hotel is "ok" we'd rather spend on extras like maybe a meal at top of Eiffel tower, and other stuff.

They have Paris luxury room at $143 for 2 days.Or PH Hollywood hip strip $158. ??

    DONT read reviews...ask on here

Vegas in general is full of drunk noisy people it is a 24/7 party town.

All hotels have noisy guests, my worst experience was at the Pallazzo so it doesnt matter how much it costs it doesnt gtee peace and quiet.

I always wear ear plugs in bed in Vegas now...to many partys in adjoining rooms

    What do you call "nice"
  • Just somewhere clean, well kept, comfortable bed and good shower, some sort of view from window (not brick wall/carpark) reasonable quality clean fresh bedding, not smokey smell, fairly quiet in room (I know you can't help what neighbours you get) easy parking, central location, probably won't use pool. Some reasonable place to breakfast nearby.

    Hi
I stayed at Bally's a couple of years ago and loved it. The rooms were very big and CLEAN which to me is the most important thing. The location of the hotel was also a plus for us, close to the bellagio fountains, carnival court for example and the prices of food and drinks seem slightly cheaper than at the other end of the strip (mgm and mandalay bay end).
We too don't spend a lot of the time in the room so I would rather spend less on a room leaving more to spend on other things.

I have never had a room in Vegas (or USA) that isnt clean, Have always been happy with the beds, always had fresh bed linen (doesnt everywhere), never had a smokey smell as always get a non smoking room (had an issue years ago at MGM but thats another story).

All have easy parking, easier still if you valet, central location and cheap leaves Ballys and Flaming IMO a bit more for Paris and PH and then more still for Cosmo, Bellagio (all of which have fountain view)

We always have a buffet breakfast, most hotels have a buffet although Ballys doesnt. A nice breakfast would be Mon ami Gabi at the front of the Paris, outside on the patio with a view across to the Bellagio (no fountains in the morning though), If I was only there 2 days I would try and eat out there in the evening as well
  • Thanks for all the info. Mon ami Gabi is defenitely on our list. Can I ask why you say don't read Trip Advisor reviews? I know you have to "read between the lines" with some reviews.

I've put genuine reviews on there myself, and no doubt many others have too.
