VALUE FOR MONEYOrleans purposely schedule their slot tournaments so that we miss them...same with CET Winterfest and Summerfest (if they still have those).
We have played in some daily tournaments - like at TI, PH (when they had one - where the winner got one pull on every $1 slot machine in the casino, sadly was never us), etc...but never a proper one...would love to.
and nvh - there's no skill, just smack the button as fast as you can (so, in theory, you get as many spins as possible in the allotted time)...usually you have a starting amount of credits and/or a time limit...whoever has the highest score wins over whatever period the tournament runs.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
SHOWSand by having more than one session that you need to enter during the tournament day, they will hope that you stick around their casino to spend money for real while waiting...0

VALUE FOR MONEYI've heard, read (and even seen) a slots tournament - but don't know what one is?
Is it a case of they give you a $100 and it's whoever wins the most amount with it?
In a sense, is it a non-skill based, button pressing event? Or is there more to it?
I've entered the Orleans one several times. They are on special machines that are set up specifically for the tournament. If you know the Orleans at all, the area just outside Brendan's pub is used for the tournament. It's basically fifteen minutes x2 of rapid button pressing, then they add your scores together and list everyone in order of the totals. I've been lucky twice. I won $100 for a fairly high place, can't remember exactly, and $50 for placing 49th last time. I'm doing one in October too.
The Video Poker tournaments are skill based, but I have never managed to get an invitation to one of those yet.0 -

Yes we saw the show not long after it started. If you like Bee Gees music then I'm sure you'd like it. Our tickets were $22 also on a Travelzoo offer and they were that not long ago so must have gone up recently.
ETA - They are $33 at Tix4Tonight.0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYThanks very much - are most of the teams couples or larger teams? And is it absolutely heaving in there?
Mixture of team sizes. We've recognised one larger team a few times we were there, so they must be local regulars.
We normally do ok (the royal 'we'). Not sure when you are there, but if you're there on 4th or 11th September you're welcome to join our team!! Or anyone on the forum for that matter - anyone for a McMullan's quiz meet?0 -
