I'm in the same boat, I probably would have managed if it was not for this forum, played a home game Saturday night and just happened to mention it to mates, it seems I've started something, so I could be going from a week taking in the Breeders cup and the Commerce, to a long weekend in LA for the same and a week in Vegas, resisting this is harder than giving up smoking in January.
Be strong and give in, it's not your fault, 'you were made to do it'.0 -

Hi,
Got back from our first visit to Vegas 2 weeks ago. We stayed in the Tropicana and really liked it. Visited all the other hotels in the south of the strip ( and quite a few others) and were very happy that we had chosen the Trop. Might be just us (middle aged couple) but we found it different to all the other hotels - much brighter. Pool area was really nice, casino was smaller than most, but bright.
No problem being at the end of the strip, easy to get the bus from outside the hotel.0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYlifted from another MSE thread about SIM cards for use abroad, does anyone use this when they go to LV/USA?

...and if so, can anyone suggest somewhere to pick one up in LV?0 -

I get mine from the T-Mobile store at Flamingo/Maryland Parkway. They are used to international customers. I visit regularly, and they are very nice in there.0 -

thank you
is this the sim card you regularly use? seems to be a great deal for being able to use data while in LV.
i asked in that thread (but it's a bit slow):
is all i'd need to do is go into a US phone shop, buy this simcard and stick it an unlocked/T-Mobile locked handset?
is there a one-off fee to buy it? did i read that a $30 top-up would negate any one-off fee?0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYBecause we go for a long time each visit, and I've had this sim for a while, I really can't remember how much it was to begin with, if anything.
I got a $100 top up so that it would last for a year. I originally used it in a Motorola Razr, but when I got my android a couple of years ago, I moved it to that when I arrived.
The people in the store helped me set it up properly for use in the USA, and installed the T-Mobile USA app on there for me. With that, I can start off with it as paygo, switch to the $3 a day for the duration of the trip, then switch back to paygo and top up the day I leave. You probably won't need to do that if you're not staying long.
Just found the original invoice, the sim was free originally. They have replaced/updated it a couple of times, and it may only have been free because of the $100 initial spend. The replacements were free too. Sorry I can't help any more. When are you going?0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYthat's great, thank you
not going until early September... thinking i might ask a pal in the US to get one for me and mail it over, so it's ready to go for when I get there.
i'm on o2 here, so think all i'd need to do is stick the new simcard in when i get there, and use it for 7 nights @ $3/day ... so if I got $30 put on it, that should cover it for this trip0
