VALUE FOR MONEYchrisvaldez wrote: »Been here since Sunday night...absolutely loving it once again but it's boiling!
Few quick pointers incase anyone wants to know....
Water in the casino vending machines has now shot up to around $3 a bottle! Head 30 seconds round the corner to any liquor store or newsagents type thingy and its around a dollar
Free ATMs are now a thing of the past...nearly all charge $5-$6 for a withdrawal! We're using a Caxton FX Card as there are no fees but the ATM will stick that on top! Luckily, Casino Royale has an ATM by the cashier that only charges $1. Worth a five minute walk!
Might be preaching to the converted but with wi-fi, shop around! Bally's internet is $15 a day but I hooked up to a neighbouring hotel and it was $9.99!
Never used a casino vending machine, always go to walmart and buy a case of water for a couple of dollars, way cheaper (prob only worth it if you have a car though)
Most on here use the casino royale long may it last at $1 its been that for years!
Never thought about doing that, which hotel are you hooked up to?0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYwe also buy a slab of water from WalMart...but also you can get small bottles of water from the cocktail waitresses...they usually have them on their tray...if we're really thirsty we'll get 2 and tip $1 between them (have been given 4 on occasion that way!)Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

hi a couple more questions, ( i think you will all be glad when i'm back lol)
we are not long back from rome and i found i really struggled with getting decent food whilst there, not wanting to repeat this when we go to the u.s i was thinking of taking some things with me but i am unsure if i can or not
things i am thinking of taking
porridge, cous cous, quinoa, brazil nuts and almonds
i will also be taking some treats for my friend like tablet ( scottish sweet) will i be able to take them into the country?
also we are staying in the platinum but wont be picking our car up until the day we leave to go to grand canyon, is the platinum within walking distance of a walmart type shop? if not am i able to go by bus or taxi easily enough, if taxi roughly how far?
thanks

Not sure theyll let you take all that stuff in as they are pretty strict with importing foodstufffs. A bar of Daily Milk Ive taken thru in the past.
However, I wouldnt take any of that anyway.....Vegas isnt Rome and Italian breakfasts eg pale pink cold meats and stale bread. Youll be spoilt for choice at a breakfast buffet, and some of the best restaurants in the world there...massive choice, cheapo to expensive, and all very similar to here. See post 1 for some recommendations.
Cheapo.....In-n-out burger (ask for it animal style), mid range Grand Luxe Cafe, mid-top Mon Ami Gabi, top end Ramsays Steakhouse.
And theres a link to my Vegas map in the first few posts, which shows the location of supermarkets etc in relation to the hotels.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

thanks froggit and you describe the breakfasts in Rome really wellthe lunches and dinner wernt much better either sadly ... dont get me wrong it wasnt that bad that i was considering McDonalds or anything ... but it was bad ... will rethink my packing and check out your link
strange how twice now i have been to two countries that i assumed would be right up there with their food ( Italy and Thailand) and twice now i have been seriously dissapointed
Gambia on the other hand blew me away food wise
with me being vegetarian i think it is unwise i go for buffets but i did get some recomendations from you all before ( thanks as always for all the help) for two places to try for vegetarian meals
we may land up going to Gordan Ramsay's as hubby is a meat eater ... i hope they do vegetarian dishes ... maybe a salad or something :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0
