On the camera thing - I would look at Best Buy's website as well as Fry's to get an idea of prices and how different models compare to UK prices - then make a decision if it's worth waiting.

    http://www.frys.com/template/cameras

I know Best Buy and maybe Fry's you can check the weekly advert online...you can also check store availability - so if you have a laptop with you, could check before heading out.

I suppose duty free would also be an option?
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

however if we are going to grand canyon and yosemite etc then i think we really should get a decent camera again ( the ones we have are ok but they aint slr's )

is there anywhere in vegas that sells cannon cameras?

Maybe ask the guy who wanted a fake Rolex......you could get a Matsui and paint it silver, and write CANNON on it. :D

you'll need to check, but i'm pretty sure canon warranties are worldwide, so that shouldn't be a problem.

without turning this into a camera thread, just ran a couple of checks comparing best UK price / Bestbuy.com prices for bodies only:

    5D Mk3 - £2995 / £2213
    7D - £1080 / £980
    60D - £749 / £569

so actually some nifty savings to be had! but obviously depending on the exchange rate...

probably best to mail the packaging back to your UK address and take a camera bag with you just in case you got yanked aside by customs ;)

If anyone is interested to see the new layout of Virgins refurbished gatwick fleet it can be found here http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/allaboutus/ourfleet/index.jsp?type=16

Its a shame the small economy cabin has gone into the bubble.
We usualy get row 22 allocated by special assistance so the bubble is out of the question.

I decided not to dignify his trolling comment with a response. Why he thought Vegas was the fake rolex capital of the world, heavens only knows.

yup - I prefer the times also.

What i don't like is the 777. Usually fly business class either through upgrading with miles or a sale fare and club world on the 777 is nowhere near as good as on the upper deck of a 747 (imo).

I think I'd be tempted to take the outbound from Gatwick for an early arrival in LAS and then take the return to Heathrow so I can get the 747 for the overnight flight.

Now I find the upper deck claustrophobic and far too hot for sleeping
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
