SHOWSThanks for the info Stoneman, think we might take the android and notebook just in case its wired access at the Mirage.
Staying DT at Golden Nugget first two night though so hopefully a party atmosphere downtown on St Patricks night.
Good info on M resort points/buffets too although we've never hired a car yet to go there. (7th time in LV)0 -
Most of the hotels now have wireless internet access rather than wired. Some have both.
You should have it included with your resort fee.0 -
SHOWSfrom the Mirage FAQ's
Internet Access:
Do you offer Internet access, and
what is the charge?
High Speed: We now offer High Speed Internet access in our guestrooms and
suites. The Mirage High Speed Internet is a combination of Ethernet and Wireless
connections. This High Speed access has wireless capabilities and offers
download speeds of 1.5 MB. There is no charge associated with the internet
access, as it is an inclusion of the resort fee. If a wired connection is
preferred, Ethernet cables are available for purchase in the guestroom

Hi everyone, first of all just wanted to say this thread is fantastic, i have been trying to read it from beginning to end, but there is alot of pages and theres alot of info to take in so please bare with me if my questions seem silly!
Am in the early stages of researching a trip but just have a few niggling concerns.
My DD is going to be studying for a year at an American College during which time she will be turning 21. So what better place to meet up and help her celebrate than Las Vegas!
As this will be my only chance to see her for the entire year, i doubly want to make it an amazing experience.
The niggling doubt is the time of year we would need to visit. DD's birthday is Jan 4th, and am worried that immediately after all the hype of Xmas and New Year, Vegas will be on a bit of a downtime, dont want to feel we have got to the party after its fizzled out! Plan to stay for 5 nights in total so can play around with dates alittle but if we go for the majority of trip before her actual birthday she wont be able to drink or gamble.
Am i worrying needlessly....does Vegas ever get quiet?
So once hopefully assured by you all that we will still have an amazing time whatever, i go onto what hotel shall i go for?
Ive got the fact that Location, location is the major factor, so am thinking either Paris or Planet Hollywood. Paris appeals to me, because of all the themeing but am worried its aimed more for romantic couples and reports of being smokey and having uncomfortable beds in blue rooms. Planet Hollywood on the otherhand should have more of a party vibe which is great for a 21 year old but not so for a 40 something mum, lol.
Also any ideas for any extra special things to plan for the actual day, have looked at night time helicopter flights or early morn hot air balloon flight and even a champagne limo tour but there are so many companies and such differing reviews for each that im feeling a bit bambozzled......please help.0 -
Dont forget to look at the 2011, 2010 etc threads also!!!
Vegas never gets quiet. From memory early Jan is CES so 100,000 visitors. Theres also the adult toys *ahem* show around the same time.
Paris and PH both fine for 21 and 40 IMHO. Tip to get the room type you want.
Special day......loads to choose from.....jump out of a plane, shoot an Uzi, Scoot City, Jersey Boys, Strat ride, all of them.....illegitimi non carborundum0 -
CASINOSI think CES (the electronics fair) is right around the time you're planning to stay so will be very busy. You might want to look it going a slightly later time to avoid because room rates will be very high and you will struggle geting into any of the restaurants there will be queues everywhere. Also it will be pretty chilly at night and it won't be pool weather at all
No doubt someone will be along shortly to say exactly when CES isThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
CASINOSI think CES is 1/1/13-11/1/13.0

Really easy way to get free buffets at M Resort. Collect 300 Points in the same day playing slots before 8pm and get a free breakfast or lunch buffet. Collect 450 and get dinner, 600 gets you seafood dinner. It took me about 1 hour playing 30 cents a spin on a slots to get the 450
UK slot machines usually have a 78% to 80% return for your money, I presume the USA slots are nearer 90% - do you happen to know?0
