    I've now booked all our hotels for our honeymoon in April, staying;

3 nights at Cosmopolitan in a Terrace Suite (our biggest splurge at £130 per night but I am very excited about sitting out on the balcony watching the fountains with a drink in hand! Best price found with Virgin)

7 nights at Mandalay Bay (booked via LowCostUSA for £100 p/n)

2 nights at Encore (booked directly with hotel for £125 p/n including 2 Wynn buffet passes and $25 drinks credit)

Just over 5 weeks to go, can't wait!! :j
Lucky wins - Rituals Beauty Advent Calendar; Starbucks Coffee & £20 Gift Card; Amazing Hen Weekend at Dunblane Hydro; Heat Magazine Book Bundle; Le Crueset Goodies :j

Wishing everyone some magic fairy pixie dust for luck!

vdara 71 a night with last-minute secret hotels plus 10% off through work scheme.

Only thing I am not sure on is the vdara as I can't help thinking better deals will be on at better hotels nearer the time, other half wanted something booked though. Maybe a lesson for next time.

you'll be able to get cheaper hotels than £71/night, but the Vdara is a lovely hotel... I always think "what would £71/night" get me in London/UK - when you think of it like that, you've got a bargain!

we're staying at the Vdara in September for 7 nights, total cost of the trip for 2 was £1850 (VA direct), received £111 back through quidco, VA flights were £1400 if booked separately... so in a roundabout way, we've got 7 nights at the Vdara for about £50/night. very happy with that. even the 'basic' rooms at Vdara (deluxe suites) are bigger/nicer than a lot of 'regular' hotel rooms, so I think you'll be really happy with your choice :)

The best rooms are Go rooms.

The view ones are called GO luxury the non view or pool view are GO deluxe.

The same analagy applies to the FAB deluxe and luxury.

The best fountain views are in the corner facing south (looking over the top of Bills).

The ones that face the strip overlook Caesers Palace and AFAIK still have a great big advert across most of those windows which is horrible to look through

You could book a deluxe and hope for an upgrade, or book the luxury and the ask for the south facing room in the corner, on or around floor 18/20 is good

I've been trying to email the flamingo to make my booking directly with them and to guarantee the best rooms. However, the site seems to be managed by Ceasers? Emailed twice now and had no response. Any hints and tips on how to go directly through the hotel? Or do I need to bite the bullet and ring them?

    Hi

We are off to vegas in a little under 4 weeks (along with half this forum by the looks of it:j) to get married. This will by my 6th and gf's 4th trip. Its just the 2 of us going and after getting married we are doing a bit of a cheesy photo tour but we cant decide where to eat in the evening (I think the wedding dress may be gone by this point) and are looking for some recommendations. We are staying at the Flamingo so dont want to go to far as we will probably be exhausted by this point.

We have already discounted Mon Ami Gabi (although quite like it we have gone off it a bit the last few trips) and Top of the World (been before, I loved my steak, oh does not eat steak and was disappointed with her food). A few I have been looking at are Wolfgang Pucks Postrio at the Venetian (the menu suits our tastes and have eaten at his pizza place at Cystals), not sure what the atmosphere is like so would like opions if anyones been). Simalar menu at the Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill in MGM, further than we wanted to go really, but could go via Monorail but again would like to hear if anyones been.

Another option would certainly be Gordon Ramseys steak house if its open by then but cant find the opening date. Any other options or reccomendations are much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Ian

    congratulations Ian :j

not sure how up-your-street it will be, but we ate at DOCG in The Cosmopolitan and it was phenomenal. It wasn't the cheapest meal we've ever had (!) and service everywhere in LV seems to be pretty hot, but here they were amazing.

we were initially attracted to it as it said pizza/pasta/rustic italian, but the food was not much short of fine dining. it certainly wasn't a Zizzis, which we were expecting!

the place had a suitably formal feel to it, but not THAT formal so as to feel uncomfortable, but was very relaxing and you are very well looked after.

Not sure why you need to email them , hotels in Vegas are notoriously bad for replying to emails inless you have a specific person you can email. Just book up on their website (via the cheapest link) for whatever room you want, put a note in the box for your requirements

You could always call them (using international call checker sticky will be about 1p per minute) nearer the time to add a specific request but thats all it would be, No hotel will gtee the best room.

You could always post a question/comment on their facebook page that usually gets a response

Is that the one in St.Marks square bit that is 'outside' (though it's inside... if you get what I mean!)

If it is, we went about 5 years ago IIRC, it seemed a bit crowded and noisy to be honest. If its not that particular one (and there's another Wolfgang Puck's there), then I can't comment i'm afraid :)

We're thinking of flying with virgin in October, but we're alarmed to see that the hand baggage weight limit is 6kg!!!! We're used to a lot more than that.

How strictly do they apply the weight limit for hand luggage? It will make a difference as to whether or not we book with them.

I seem to remember that one time they were fairly strict on carry on bags then the next time strict on checked luggage, it seemed like they had instructions on what to monitor. I have never had hand luggage weighed, just shown it to check in staff. I'm obviously a liitle different in what we take on board, I have a book, couple of snacks and a hairbrush! It is however more on the way back! Is it because you go for months?;)
