Lovely to see you back penpin x
NPM Our schools do not go back until Wednesday
We were going to Bletchley today, but when we got up we just couldn't be asked, so we might pop over one day next week. DS needs some new toe tectors so we need to go to sports direct to get them because his feet are so big.
Got a card this morning from DH's Mum and Dad to say Thank You for their 60th anniversary dinner, which was a lovely thought.
We are not going out tonight either, we are just having a quiet one and will go to bed once we have seen the New Year in...must be getting old f&rts :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
DD's BF will probably first foot again this year, but we will be long asleep by the time those two roll home.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Afternoon all, I came to say hello and because I am busting to tell someone what happened, and poor DH is back in bed with his illness again all day so I have no one except my MSE friends. I thought I'd come tell you.
This week, over on "Grabbit" I have bought 4 x £1 vest/jknicker sets for myself, a BOGOF kingsize quilt cover and pillow cases for £8, 3 x £1 t-shirts for my little boy and 10 x £0.00 (gotta be an error) t-shirts for myself. Which means I spent £15 on "bargains".
So this morning I get an email saying my quilt covers are ready for collection, and this afternoon I walk up to the store to collect them and I found £5 laying in the road!!! I'd put it in my purse and was glowing along thinking about how that reduced my quilt covers to £3 (£1.50 each!) and I saw £10 lieing in the gutter!
£15 free! I got the whole weeks bargains for nothing, and I only bought them in the first place because my dad gave me £25 for Christmas and I thought we'd try to get something nice instead of letting the bills/shopping absorb it as usual.
So happy new year for tomorrow - I know I slept well, but I'm pretty sure it's 31st December today
...and I've had a good day so far
I hope you all have good days and those of you not having good days, I hope you have much, much better days tomorrow.

Afternoon all,
I have been to the shops this morning, baked some banana and walnut muffins to use up some bananas that were on their way out. Just need to make my lemon mousse next, will start the curry at about 5/6 depending on when OH is coming home.
Have nearly done everything on my to do list for today, 2 jobs i just can't be bothered to attempt, so they will be put off for a couple of weeks. Will bring in the throws for the sofa and stick them on the radiator, then it's the bedding's turn.
Puppy wants to go for a walk, but i just can't be bothered to leave the house again, so we'll play hide and seek instead.

beetlemama, those are quite some bargains, i'm heading over to grabbit now. I always feel weird about finding money in the street, I tend to put it in the first charity pot or charity shop I come across (but NOT those people who hassle you in the street and get paid £8hr grrr)
lou glad he's back and being useful
((hugs)) bramble
jackieo what a lovely post! when i was little all the grandkids were turfed off to grandparents and then our grandparents would get us running up and down the street howling at midnight.
Afternoon everyone. Today is not going nearly as well as I hoped. There wasn't much at market and I had to go to Lidl for extra stuff as I won't have chance to get to market again until thursday. Then when I went to make vegetable peel soup the potato and carrot peelings had gone all slimy and I couldn't bring myself to use them(maybe because i froze then defrosted them?). It's just a clear broth with celery, lentils and barley in it now, but it should still be tasty. And I definitely have some sort of cold, my nose is all runny and my throat stings. Pfft, oh well!
Right, now I need to do a few more hours of university work before I can contemplate anything fun!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

Afternoon everyone :hello:
Penny-Pincher!! - how lovely to see you! So glad that you're writing books - remember to invite us all to your launch party!
beetlemama - lucky thing! They are GOOD bargains.
I'm hoping that my £1 investment in a lottery ticket will be returned to me later with £4 million :rotfl::rotfl:In my dreams!
DH has cleaned the kitchen and bathroom whilst I've been ironing in front of Pride & Prejudice and The Queen. Such a hardship! We popped out earlier to get some food for this evening. Unfortunately, we've cheated and have got the "2 dine for £10" deal from Tesco. In my defence, this will be the last "ready meal" for the next goodness knows how long. I'm normally the one standing in the queue tutting at people with ready meals in their baskets! :rotfl:
I really must get the Christmas cards down; I'm in two minds whether to wait until tomorrow. It all seems so final, but at the same time it's a good way to start a new year.
Happy New Year everyone!

Beetlemama - What a find. That happened to my parents and their friends going home on a night out once, about 30 years ago. I can't remember the exact amount they found, but it was at least a weeks wages.
A Happy and Peaceful New Year to all
