Dh and I have done a Mahoosive loft clearing session, seems I have a passion for collecting boxes for things we dont even own anymore

But on the plus side I now have a nice pile of things for ebay :j :j, downside . . I think this is definitely the last of things that I can sell without it being important items of furniture . . like the kids beds

Have moved £160 out of paypal and am waiting for that to clear, £48 is my uncles, £20 is my mums but that still leaves me £90 for the CC :D

  • Lol Jakes Mum when we cleared our loft out for free loft insulation :money: it was nearly all empty boxes, mostly for old things that we got rid of years ago too :D and we had nothing of value to sell. Still at least the boxes all packed flat so only needed one trip to dump. I think the boxes were prob acting as insulation though :rotfl:.

Keep up the great debt busting work guys...looking forward to see the March totals, I think a lot of people have done really well this month.

Was working earlier on today, and I'm doing some freelance writing now, but have a few cold ones in the fridge for later. I'd bemoan my football team's form today, but I doubt I'd get much sympathy!

Hope you all have a good weekend...and roll on my five days off over the bank holiday!

Well I've been away for a few days up in Edinburgh and how well everyone's been doing whilst I've been away :) congratulations everyone you should be so proud of yourselves.

The one thing I'm really disappointed about though is someone bowing out of the challenge. We've got so many people on here that have higher debts than what they're achieving before Christmas, that I truly believe the challenge will continue again after the end of this one. If Jemma is debt free, then I'll take it over as I want to be able to save money (I see that if I am debt free, then I'm still £25000 in debt as I don't have that in savings yet if that makes any sense).

This thread is one of the most supportive I've come across, and it helps keep so many people on track that it would be a shame for it not to exist anymore just because the deadline has passed. We're all here because we can't handle our debt by ourselves, we're looking for ideas to help us change our way of thinking and we may not have anyone else we can talk to about our debts. We can't hide from them, if we were able to do it by ourselves then we wouldn't be here in the first place.

Anyway, rant over, I'm also really annoyed that I'm in Bournemouth with only 100 miles left of fuel and the morons round here have eaten all the fuel in a panic so I will have to pay 6p more per litre to buy it on the motorway back to London tomorrow.

I've not paid off any debt yet as I don't have my w*scott details with me, but when I get back I will pay off another £90. I've been very spendy this week as I went to a factory outlet on the way back from Edinburgh and bought some beautifully soft 400 thread count bedding for half the price I can get it for on the discount website I was going to :)

Good news is that I've done the majority of my spending now and I haven't any big spends to do for awhile, so it's debt busting full steam ahead now.

Hope everyone is feeling better now, Jemma, Jakes-mum, Psychobabble.

With regards to the Florida trip (ruthy?), I'd be honest with them, tell them that you've booked a once in a lifetime holiday, that you can't afford for him to go on the school trip and if they don't like it then tough you'll take the unauthorised absence. Year 8 isn't a SATs year, and you can easily make up any lost work for that week.

Hi everyone quick update. I have close V*nqu*s & transferred everything to Cap One as the rate is much better. I really wanted to pay the CC off by the end of the year but need to save 3 months wages so I can leave what I am doing now & go back to sessional tutoring.

I will be here next year! Our Debt free date is April 2014 when the DMP finishes but in my head it HAS to be Dec 2013, I can't be in debt after that.... trying to save anything I can to also make F&F offers at the end of the year, as a couple of debts will be down to the £500 mark by then. So hoping to half them.

    no 127 payment of £1,192

    Thanks Jemma

I've got no debt payments to report but I did start doing the Couch to 5K programme this morning. How are others going with it?

Yay welcome to the C25K! I was doing ok with it, but slacked off over the last couple of weeks. Really need to be getting back into it .... hard work, but I did keep doing 30 minutes even though I wanted to quit at 20 :)

OMG what a spendy 2 days I've had! I got 2 new tyres yesterday and they cost £163... then today it was my MOT and service where I need new brakes on all 4 wheels so I'm £170 down because of that too... Had to take my car back to the tyre place afterwards though as the morons had put a tyre on inside out (or back to front, however you want to look at it). Anyway, luckily I know the guy who did my MOT otherwise it would have failed...

There are some superb totals on here so a huge well done to you all :T:T:T You are all my superstars!!! :A I need to work out the damage from my car spends above then I can post my total. It's not going to be as good as previous months but I should still be on track to debt freedom in December :j:j:j

    Hi there!
It's lovely to hear all the stories about what you are doing to save money. :j
I didn't work any overtime this week, as two of the children were sick. I am due to go back to work tomorrow and am reluctant to go in, as they are still not quite back to their usual bouncing selves yet and just want to sit and be cuddled. I know DH will care for them just fine...I just want to make sure they continue on the road to recovery.

I thought I was going to be stuggling financially, due to the lack of overtime shifts, but a friend travelling back home to Nova Scotia asked me to come to her place and feed her cat for the ten days she is away. I was a bit reluctant to do it, in case something happened to the kitty while she was away, but then she mentioned the money she wanted to pay us to do it-boy, she must love this cat a lot!;)

Anyhow, so far so good. I take one of the children in to help and play with the cat each day and they ooh and ahh over all the space in the lovely flat-not to mention the electric guitars and all the x-box games (and the beautiful cat!) that this couple have! Maybe I should put an ad out, offering to petsit as a way to raise some money? I would love, love to work for myself...that's my dream for the future :T
Have a good week All! x

  • Not posted on here for a while, am still trying to get debt free, but got a bit fed up as it seems a bit cliquey on this thread, and only a few people seem to get replies to their posts. I'd posted a number of things and never got any replies, so kinda stopped visiting. i will try to update my totals every month though, folks.
