First step down the pathway to freedom taken :j: payments totalling £1359 made today towards the various cards/loans:

    #332: £1359/£13 730 (9.89% paid)

:j:j:j That is a HUGE first step, congratulations hun!!! :T:T:T How are you doing this??? xxx
Solicitors bill paid last night, first SO should have taken for my portion of the bills., although I need to go back into our budget planner and work our the exact amount we should both be paying.

We built the chest of drawers last night, can't wait to get home from work and put some more clothes away. I was good and washed some clothes before bed so hung them out before coming to work. Need to give the washing machine drawer a good scrub as it's filthy. I'll probably do a high temp was with the towels as well to give the machine a good clean out, just a shame I'm using liquid 2in1 tabs right now and not powder as that would clean it better.

Trying to save as much money as I can right now as I know OHs pay is going to be really low next month as he's having an operation. Fingers crossed this will stop his time off work though and make him have a much better quality of life.

I'm thinking I'll probably go with the White Filling, I'll only end up regretting it if I go with a silver one.

Soooooooo??? How much do you love your new home???? xxx
    Hi all :)

Well my other half has found another job although it is still subcontracing and less money than where he worked before but hey its money and he gets paid weekly :D They are also going to put him on the books as soon as they can so he will get holiday pay and i won't have to do any more tax returns, whoohoo!

No payment updates as i had to use the credit card to buy heating oil as i had no other choice so debt has gone up a bit but should be back on track next month!

    Have a good weekend

:wave::wave: Howdi Floridafairy! Great to hear from you! I'm really glad your OH has found another job. There's nothing worse than being all geared up and motivated to do something but you can't cos of circumstances beyond your control! I'm sure you'll get that debt back down pretty quickly now that your OH's working again. You're doing superb hun so keep going :A xxx

Flippin' eck Ruth, you can't get more unlucky than that! I'd go for 1 but then am too honest for my own good. Good luck with that one!

Well I managed to pay us something today, a long time coming! We have been living off dh's other income during most of March, which has meant we've had to be really frugal. But it's been worth it as another £750 to virgin leaving us at:

    £2654.53/6109.94

Isn't it lovely when you make a payment! :j:j

Now in the past, I have worked hard to get it down to around £3k then it's crept back up again. Not this time though! Hate credit cards! Hate them!

    Have a lovely weekend everyone.:D

That is soooo true, it's so easy to comfortable with a debt level of say £3k and think it's ok but then it creeps up again. However, only mortgage debt is good debt I think so all the rest MUST GO!!!

    Hi All

Payday has finally arrived. Although it's a little crap, so going to be ANOTHER crap month. My own fault so will stop moaning! :p

Since I am a DMP, payments will be small from me from now on. I am going to save up now for F&F's so I can hopefully convince them to decrease my debt at the end of the year! £350 from me :D

    #4 £2770.78/£13876.93 19.9% So close to 20%

    £6.16 away from being under 11k :D:D:D:D

Have a good weekend peeps :)

It's not crap hun, it's another £350 off your debt and closer to being debt free!!! You've already pointed out 2 amazing milestones: 1) you're a whisker away from 20% and 2) you're also a whisker away from being under £11k! When was the last time your debt was so low??? :T:T:T xxx

Sorry guys I realise that I'm doing most of the talking this morning but I always seem to read your posts each day then properly reply when I'm actually updating which is why they all come at once!!!

Right, I need some advice... I have 2 credit cards both on 0% for a long time, I also have my big HBSC loan (the one I hate with a passion!) on 7.9% with about £7k left to pay to full term. Now, I have really been struggling recently and have dipped a little into my savings (waiting for the barage of slaps!) so am wondering if it would be better for me to use the money instead to pay off my credit cards so I don't risk keeping spending on them...? I know in effect it will cost me more but I think I need a psychological boost here and getting down to just 1 debt (my loan) will be a massive milestone for me. Am I just being stupid??? I just sooooo want to cut up the cards cos I've paid them off...

I'm sure you can use it on your ipod... you just download it into itunes, so you must be able to then transfer over to ipod :)

Awesome, thanks hun :A I'll have a look later and book myself in for a 10k in summer so I have something to train for. I think I'll book my mum in too as she doesn't believe she can do it but she definitely can! :D

    Hi Jemma
Do you have enough money to pay off your cards and still have some savings? When do the 0% deals end?
If you do have enough then i would be tempted to pay the cards off and close them. Then you won't be tempted to spend on them and you will have used your savings money to pay off debt rather than dipping into it for 'spends'.
It's a difficult decision; i ask myself the same question all the time. My debt is on 0% card which is due to finish in September and i keep asking myself wether i should pay it off (we's have very little left in savings then) or pay it off at £500 per month so it's paid before 0% ends. But i sowant to have it paid off (the thought of it being paid off would be sooooo good)

    Hi Jem,

Great work with your epic Sunday updates...I hope you can reward yourself with a roast (or maybe something lighter in this weather) later on.

I know you really want to get rid of the loan, and once those monthly payments are out of the way then you have more wiggle room in your monthly budget.

Are the credit cards that you have on 0% deals or are they at a higher rate? I put all my savings into an account where it is a little more difficult for me to get hold of it, which helps me to get over the temptation.

Personally I'm heading for my loans, but I agree having funds saved does make it more tempting not to be completely MSE all the time.

I have enough money to pay off 1 card this month. The other card is not too bad as I can't remember the PIN for it! :o I've never had savings before so not too concerned about having any to be honest. I live with my parents so don't have to worry about saving for mortgage/bills in case of losing my job so I'm really lucky this way. The 0% deals end in August 2013 I think so plenty of time left on them. I really wish I could overpay my loan so that I could just pay the money off the loan each month rather than having it in a savings account that I can easily access... :(

It'll be a great feeling when it's gone, I agree! :) Maybe try the £500 per month option on yours until it's paid off before the 0% ends as you'll always have the backup option of using your savings but only if you have to. xxx
