  • I know you're not supposed to think of it as real debt but I just had to log into the student loan company website to change my address and that was a depressing figure to see :( I was in the first year of top up fees and had to do 4 years but other than the fees loan I only took the minimum amount as my parents wages were good and I was staying at home. Seeing a figure of £24,539.97 still terrified me, dread to think how worse off people who did Medical degrees were.

Fingers crossed they don't mess up and start taking payments from me from next month as I'd like it to come down. Although working it out I'll actually only pay about £300 a year off it which is just crazy.

Morning all, I hope everyone is well! I know I've been away ages but I have a good excuse - a relationship break up and a car break down. Both of which have ended up quite expensive for me! So, long story short, I am now single, carless and my debt is back up to £3535 .

On the plus side - I have decided to sort my life out properly. I am focussing on being debt free, enjoying the walks to work and am sure that it will all turn out in the end. The car is being scrapped tomorrow, which I will get paid £150 for :j, I will be able to reclaim half the car tax back (£50) :j, and I will cancel my insurance and hopefully get around £200 back from them too :j. I also get paid on Friday and have decided to give myself a strict budget of £40 per week to spend - including food, bus when I can't be bothered to walk to work, and any incidental drinking money. It will be tough, but doable.

Oh sorry to hear that Antonia, :grouphug: this is meant to be a group hug, but looks rude! , it's not

In recognition of my brothers birthday I have decided to send a random £20 to Mr. Branson's CC company. Hope he's happy :p

    So my total is now

I figure that if it's not in the bank I can't spend it, is that sensible? :o

Just wrote half of a long post, got interrupted, then distracted and accidentally hit the refresh button on this page instead of another...post all gone

Anyway, basically was to say that we still seem to be going backwards with the debt. Mostly due to overspending (though have got OH's card back now so that should get better, but I don't yet know the full extent of the damage!). Also, because I've used wedding savings to offset the credit card, it means there's no payment going to credit card each month (all going towards the wedding).

So, sad as I am to admit it:

    #077 £2,316.32/£16,660.26 13.90% paid

That mean's we're still just about on target, but we were ahead of target. Could be worse ;) We're about 4-6 weeks behind overall target of 25th October because of changes to the wedding budget.

    H xx

Well after my great inroads at the weekend found out our gas and elec has shot up over the last 6 months! So a new payment plan so not paid off as previously thought! Phoned the loan company and finally got my head round the interest so need to work that all out and do a new spreadsheet. Finally its all making sense and it might help out in the long term.

Other then that off to get a cheap greenhouse with kid this afternoon as fed up of being stuck in doors so going to work on the hanging baskets and veg planters in the back.

The good news is the inlaws are doing another tax dodge and are giving us some money so we can get my wardrobe and do kids room up! It should go on debts but wardrobe at bursting point in fact laid in bed last night and glass flew off it!

Ikea I'm coming for my PAX system (only been waiting two years for it)!

I have pax wardrobe system that I put together off Ebay....I have 3 double wardrobes and a single with all the fittings inside, 3 mirror doors and 4 oak(ish) doors. The whole thing cost me less than £200 off Ebay. Ok I have taken 6 months to collect it all but it has saved us loads! Even if you just bought the fittings and carcasses off Ebay and bought new doors it would save you a fortune.

Oh and Ikea have a special on sliding Pax doors just now I think.

    HTH!!!

    :( Trying hard...failing miserably :(

I have literally just nearly had a heart attack!!!!!

I logged into my online banking and my bank account had gone! The ones with no money in were still there. I rang the automated telephone system and the they said the balance was ZERO, there should have been well over £2000 in there.

I FREAKED OUT! Turns out one of the debt payments I made over the weekend triggered their automated anti fraud systems and they shut me down and made me go totally NUTS on a (hopefully) temporary basis.

Anyway....I have money again for a while :0) and I can stop crying!

Damn it Karenann, you may be a god send!

I already have a single Pax with pull out doors, so in theory I have one carcass £50.00, one clothes rail £4.00, and at least one drawer (3 in play already, might save on the wardrobes.) May nip down tonight and have a chat about recycling it. Can't do anything on the doors as we need sliding rather then pull out, can't see the offer in my store at leeds but will go direct tonight.

Now need to talk to husband about giving me the £223 I have saved by not spending!
