Just dropped the boy off on his way to work and I'm on the bus home to go shopping with my Mam. We've organised to go sofa shopping on Sunday too

Well done fallenwiccan
Choclover, I think I might be one of the few that look on having children without even considering what the state provide. Although that bloke saying his wife should just not work has annoyed me. But whilst I think we all are entitled to our own opinions, I wouldn't do what that one person is doing on there sooo not the place.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

This is a debate that could just go on... but I think the OP and his wife both want to work, it's just that the way the benefit system works, it's actually going to make them worse off which is why so many people end up on benefits. (although there are those that use and abuse the system but that's another story!)Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

It's not just me then! And as you can see I couldn't resist
I have typed and then deleted lots... I think I shall resist!
Dunno what school she went to, to watch a Ken Loach film(I love Ken Loach) Cathy Come Home did inspire charities such as Crisis and Shelter opened a while after the film was shown... as it opened MP's eyes to people in poverty but I didn't see it til I went to college and studied Media so yah know (I'm 23 and the film was aired on BBC1 in 1966! I have no children to speak of (lol) and have never been on benefits...so you know... it was probably that film that's keeping me off the streets
)

I tend to avoid those types of thread like the plague as they are a target for the old tarring brush to be pulled out. Benefit claimers are scum, over £40k earners are money grabbers and someone always goes about weilding their views when an opinion wasn't asked
I have my own opinions about the benefits system, I am thankful for them since I became ill as my family wouldnt have kept our home without them, I also remember working 50 hrs just to cover my DS's nursery bill and all our bills being paid by DH's 14k a year job as we earnt to much for government help. But the truth of the matter is that my opinions are my own and will not match other peoples, I understand that they are not welcome on or relevant to threads started by others asking for help.
I do hate to read people turning a question into a reason to parrot their beliefs at others no matter whether I agree with some or all of what they are saying or not.SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -
Yeah definitely, benefits definitely have their place, we would have gone hungry as kids without them as my dad was made redundant 5 times whilst I was growing up... each time he was out of work he would be at the job center from 9am - 5pm every weekday waiting for a job to pop up that he could do. I admire my dad for that bless him... still makes me teary thinking about it!
My big brother and sister in law are trying for a baby, they are both very good at their jobs (aircraft engineer and office manager at GHD) but are trying to save every penny because of the massive drop in pay my sister in law will have when she goes on maternity leave. They won't receive anything in the way of help from the government, they have to do it all themselves... as will me and the boy when it's our turn... xxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0 -
I've tried to be MSE by putting a draught excluder on the window, but being lazy and short I couldn't do the whole job. So I think I've now made it worse
I think I might have to try to balance a chair on a sofa to try to reach the top of the window and finish the job properly.

Today (is that right? Oh yeah it is today, I have to check now you see as I keep getting things wrong...! :rotfl:) I'm down at our pallet manufacturing site where I am in a windowless office so missing all the sun. Tomorrow I'll be back in my office which has full panoramic views of the hills and it's meant to be torrential rain. Great. Oh and there are no "ladies" so unless I want to share the "gents"
with the big burly contractors on site then I need to cross my legs for the day!
In my office I sit with my back to the window so don't benefit fromthe sunshine but I did manage to go out for a walk at lunchtime round the park. Thought I'd enjoy the sunshine before tomorrow's rain.Hi all,
I know it's off topic, but I've been reading this thread and I just can't believe the attitude of some people!

Credit cards: £6080
Bank Loan: £3450
Car Finance: £4200
Target: £137300
