Have spent £10.59 on weeks shopping (though forgot bread so will have to spend a little more tomo). Have made huge sausage casserole that is so tasty and will do 3 teas (will freeze some - I am not so cruel that I will make family eat it 3 nights in a row

You could try Gumtree? No fees.
I have been very MSE today - NSD number 3 (of 3!) and I have made a list of all the food in the house which meant I have managed to meal plan for 15 days (including leftovers for lunches)
I have a million things to ebay too so will do some of that in a while.
Still no debt paying until payday  but at least I'm making my money last! :heart2:

Freeads locally are a good idea. Ebay is often for stuff that needs posted. Though there's no harm in listing and saying that the buyer must collect.
You're all doing so well with this challenge. What's the secret? If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
I know it's a little late but happy new year everyone!!
Phew - the past 2 weeks have been a bit flaming hectic, today was the first time I've been able to look at my spreadsheet in ages and since the beginning of December I've paid off a whopping £949.82 off my debts!!
I am so so happy! A lot of this has come from money gifted to me and I feel so virtuous using it to reduce my debt. :j
I didn't want anything for Christmas so just told my family if they did want to give me anything then money would be greatly appreciated! I did feel a bit rude but figured that honesty was the best policy and that the money would come in much more handy than a gift that I didn't really want.
It feel's so good to be under the £8k mark!
Will be doing some ebaying later this week that should hopefully help me knock a few more pennies off before next month

My husband and I moved from the UK to Canada in 2008 and it has hit us quite hard financially. This WILL be the year that all our hard work will pay off (she says with fingers crossed!) I notice that you have subscribers quoting figures in sterling, euros and bhat (?sp), so I hope it is ok to chart ours in Canadian dollars. The debt comes from two credit cards, which I plan to reduce by using the Snowball method...then I will focus on our sizeable mortgage. In addition, I have been comfort eating and have approx 70lbs to lose. So, onwards and upwards Peeps! :snow_laug:snow_laug
Hi Canucksfan,
Welcome to the thread. My hubby, myself and our 2 adult children moved from the UK to Canada in 2008, and we've found it to be difficult financially as well. We've managed to keep our heads above water and as non of our debts are since our move but are associated with the actual moving to Canada then I'm very optimistic for the future. I'm hazarding a guess from your user name as to where you live - I live in BC. I'd really like to see your progress on here, but you can also PM me if you wish.karenann76 wrote: »Our spending diaries start tomorrow! How long do you think we should do them for?
Hi karenann, I do a spending diary for my weekly grocery/petrol/spends allocation, it can take time to get into the habit of doing, but I do it all the time now and I can't see myself not doing it any time soon. It really focuses the mind as to what I'm spending my money on, and as I tally what I have in my purse against what the diary says I should have gives me a constant reminder of how much I have to see me through the rest of the week. If I do a shopping list and guestimate how much it will cost, and I don't have enough in my purse, then something has to be crossed off the list and carried over to the following week.
Welcome to all the Newbies this week, good luck with your challenge.
