Hi all,
I'm wondering if any of you could offer a little bit of advice please.
My OH was talked into claiming his PPI back using a company two months ago, they have looked at our mortgage and rang today and said we could get money back, after several phone calls today we have been told we have a good chance. However need to pay £550 for them to process, if nothing comes of it then we get the £550 back, however if we do they keep £150 of the £550. I could definitely do with some PPI back to pay off our debts but do I pay the £550 for the greater amount or not?
I know company's are not the best but he's a stubborn thing and won't listen to me trying to do it the way Martin would like, trust me I've tried, MEN :-0
On the plus side I took a top back today so will be paying £15 off my debts later.I will stop spending on things I don't need
Lloyds TSB CC - £3577/£3650, HSBC CC - £2425/£2621, VIRGIN CC - £5349/£5405, BARCLAY'S CC - £3700, HALIFAX - £109/£199

I'm not sure that I would want to use a company who made me pay upfront - what it they can't get any money back and then drag their feet refunding yours? Have you checked out the ppi thread for advice?0

Did you send them any paperwork about your mortgage or sign an authority with them to speak with your bank? It sounds well dodgy to me, and personally I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. Do you know how much PPI you've actually paid, and what fraction of that would be the 550 charge?DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

Yes he signed an agreement with them to give them the power to speak to the company he had cards with, also sent them stuff about the mortgage, I told him to stay clear and let me do it but he wouldn't listen.I will stop spending on things I don't need

These companies do make me very uneasy, mainly because there are so many unscrupulous ones out there.
I used to work in a bank call centre, and I used to have old ladies calling me up saying that the bank owed them £3,000 in charges and somebody had phoned from the bank to tell them so, yet they'd never taken out a loan and had paid hundreds to get these companies to chase up the bank for them.
If your partner is very insistent then its at least worth getting the evidence from this company or your bank how much PPI you've actually paid.DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

Don't pay companies a penny to get PPI back! I got £1900 back from 3 letters to Lloyds. Get Martin's template, print it, fill it in, post it. It took my OH 30mins to fill his in and several months of nagging, but he's now waiting an outcome from Lloyds. These companies won't do anymore than you can and are just making money out of fools that can't be bothered to look into it themselves... so to speak. Give hubby a kick and make him do the form, it's really not hard and soo worth it if you get the PPI refunded.
Just back from a 2mile run/power walk. It took me 28mins to do 2miles, so I apparently run at 4mph haha. Still, good to get out there and I need a slightly longer route as I was back home 2 mins before my podrunner intervals ran out oops.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:
