cant get any overtime when you dont work and ive already ebayed everything unused in the house....A lesson for all I think, dont take debt believing you can pay it off with your income as the day may come that your unable to work and your income is no moreI'm finding it much more difficult now that I have to put in three security codes just to access my bank account online and have the little key thing handy - not so easy to pay off debts when your bank is fort knox!
Hope you feel better soon Jake's mum - this time of the year is always really difficult
January must be the most depressing month of the year, I think it's after all the work and excitement of Christmas that we get an adrenaline drop when we have to come back to reality.... I believe that the most divorces in the year are applied for in January too!I would love to be able to pay off all our debts by the summer but if I can't we'll still manage and get by. The way I look at it is anything paid off is a bonus even if it's only a couple of pounds.
Absolutely love your positive attitude, every penny paid off is a step forward and the end is in sight for all of us.
My husband still hasn't been to pick his books up from the Accountant but as soon as he does I'll be able to have a look and see what's going on - well hopefully as accounts aren't my strong point but I'll then be able to ring the Tax Credits with our incomes and see whether or not we're going to lose money from them, I find it really hard to do the forecast for the next twelve months as there's nothing guaranteed so I could say we're hoping to earn a decent wage based on the work I have now but then if my situation changes I'll be short alternatively I add 5 or 10% onto last years income but that might be I end up owing them money  it's a real dilemma!0 -
Morning all! Last lie in day today before the school run starts up tomorrow. I've got another week off work though -woohoo! Did a bank shift on Sunday which nearly killed me as I've not worked in a hospital for blooming months, could hardly walk by the end of it -but that will be another £200 in the bank at the end of next month. Have started back on Weightwatchers (not paying, doing it myself) and yeterday went okay....until I found the big bag of wine gums.
Have paid a couple of credit card payments (min plus £1) today, won't update until I get the next statements with interest.

Dorset Girl, Well done.
Karen I would say get in the habit now and check your spend. Personally my spend diary started as of yesterday, I'm going to run mine till pay day and start a new month from that point.
However while making it work with my master spreadsheet which I have put so much time and effort into I'm not sticking to my budget, so my £300 a month over budget on food for 2/3 weeks is going onto my visa. I know I should only budget for say £30 a week but all 3 eat at separate meal times!
This way I can overpay on the visa and reduce down my payments out0 -

My sympathies, it's hard when that happens. My hubby is a copper and works shifts, I'm a nurse and sometimes work shifts and my kids have lots of afterschool activities, so it's like that a lot here too, but I've learnt now to make stuff like shepherds pie when it's one of those days, as it can be plated up, stuck in the fridge and then microwaved when people turn up, starved. :rotfl:The only stuff that doesn't really microwave well are chips! But as I'm on a diet, they aren't getting chips anyway!Long haul supporter #290POAYDBX2014 #043LBM Dec 2011 Debt £51K Debt Nov 2014 £42K0 -
Hello all!
No debtbusting to report yet. I'm waiting for all my DDs to go out so I can see what I definitely have left over (if at all) Have managed though to get through Christmas and New Year without having to spend on the CC, virtually unheard of in the past!
Would love to join the weight loss challenge part of the thread. I'm in competition with DH to see who can lose the the most weight before June though our personal goals go way further than that.
so please put me down #12 for 70lbs to lose in 2012
Now to catch up on all the posts, this could take a while;)0 -

Love this idea, wether anyone would follow through with it in our house, blinking doubtful!0 -
Don't be down-hearted jakes-mum, you've already done amazingly well. I'm in a similar boat to you, my OH is ill and disabled so he can't work and I'm his carer so I'm unable to work.
Im my usual sunny self todaymaybe it was getting up and hearing the wind howling and thinking 'I dont have to go out in that!' :rotfl: pleasure in small mercies :rotfl: DH is out of work at the minute and we are waiting for my DLA renewal letter to come back to see if they have given me mid rate care (which the benefits advisor who did my forms said I should get) if I get it he will register as my carer as tbh I need someone with me as im a bit of a danger to myself
Jakesmums mantra - Ovens are hot, knives are sharp, ovens are hot, knives are sharp' :rotfl:

Another £32.03 off the Halifax card and £10 off the A&L overdraft which makes my new figures:
152 mrso2b £489.52 / £12,000
Currently have £220-odd to last us till payday which is in 18 days. Would really love to throw another £100 at the First Direct card!
