Awwwww. This is why this place is so good. I've attempted to sort out our debts "once and for all" about five times over the last six or seven years and it normally lasts until the first time we fancy a takeaway, or expensive night out and then we think, "Oh sod it." This time keeping posting on here is really helping my motivation and if we fall off the wagon, I know we can come back and get right back on.

Thanks hun, luckily it's mostly the eating healthy part that has gone out of the window so I've spent money on some takeaways/chocolate etc but not big money (although my best friend was showing me her kindle yesterday trying to convince me to buy one... Not until I'm debt free!!!) I just feel like I've let go of that drive to spend as little as possible, earn extra money by ebaying etc and the excitement of working out how much debt I've managed to pay off. And all because I've been stressed at work. I know the triggers but when you're working ridiculous hours you don't want to think of anything, just want to sleep and switch the brain off. Thankfully I should only have this for another 8 working days then I'm taking some much needed time off.

Actually when I think about it I've not done too bad (I mean regarding spending not the eating rubbish part!) as I was fitted for contact lenses yesterday of which I can claim the eye test back using eye care vouchers, the contact lenses back using my health insurance. Also I'm having my hair done on Tuesday but will cost £25 instead of £75 and I've not really spent anything else other than food. Normally I would have gone on a massive spending bender and need to use all my birthday money to pay it off but it looks like my new MSE ways are ingrained in my subconscious... Still need to keep away from food though... :rotfl:

  • So I've been paid from work a few days early!!!

So pleased as I've now received the bonus I was waiting for and have now cleared the full balance on my Vanquis card!!

Also paid some off my Next accoun, so my new total is:

    #114 £1213.53/£15.962.80
:xmastree:Pay all your debt by Xmas 2012:xmastree:

    ........:xmassmile#114 £1,530.61/£15.962.80:xmassmile.......
  • Paid some off my Next today so total now:

    #049 £1835.97/ £10,000 18.35%

which is 4.1% of our total debt. Which doesn't sound like very much, but considering that for the last *cough* years our debt has only ever gone UP it's a huge achievement! :o

  • Hello! I am still here and still alive (although have a vile lurgy- sore throat and headache)
My little boy was really ill last week culminatng in a trip to A&E on Friday as he had a REALLY nasty virus and was dehydrated by Friday. We had a horrible thought it could have been meningitis because all the symptoms added up and on Friday when his temperature hit 40.3, his neck hurt, he was vomiting and had a pin !!!!! rash all over his chest we went to the hospital. It was very very scary. THey observed him for 3 hours and then let us go and he seems to have the very tail end of the bug now (literally tail end poor little thing- he has the runs)
Im hoping now that this week I will actually get a week with all of them in the correct childcare on the correct day! My youngest started nursery 5 mornings at the start of term and EVERY week since I have had at least one day a week where one of them has been ill and home!
This weeks mission? Find out how much I owe Crapital One, set up a plan to pay it, get back on weight loss wagon and list ebay.
ANd find a spare entire day to catch up on this thread LOL

Sometimes we have to cut ourselves some slack, especially when we're juggling so much at once.

Regards to eating healthly and cheaply when there is so much to do it's difficult to get the right balance, in this case we know the cheapest thing to do it make sandwiches at home, but taking it a step up from there the next best thing is buying a quick and healthy sandwich from the supermarket or meal deal from Boots, either option is cheaper than eating out at lunch time, and more healthy than chocolate and crisps. Plus with the meal deal you don't have to eat the crisps and drink the pop straight away, have tap water with the sandwich and save the junk for a treat a later date.

Let's face it, we can't be 100% good 100% of the time :A
