The original question was "Would you pay to have your wheelie bin cleaned?"
Yes I would, is my answer.
Some people on here say they would, some people say they wouldn't!
We're just answering the question!!
But it seems to have opened up a whole load of sarky, childish or fecitious remarks.
I cannot believe how many narrow minded, childish idiots there are on here!Even when you feel like you have nothing, someone else has far less. Find them and help them. You’ll see why.....0 -

Wrap soggy stuff up in newspaper if it *has* to go in.
Someone putting dog mess in is HORRIBLE.
Ask your council about food waste recycling. This cuts down on the soggy nasty stuff. (And cut down on the food waste you throw away)
Our council dont have a food waste recycling scheme....
I use newspapers where possible...
I use bags if its really messy....ie. left over curry etcEven when you feel like you have nothing, someone else has far less. Find them and help them. You’ll see why.....0 -
I wont use black wheelie bin liners cos its bad for the environment...there are bio ones. water on wheelie bin cleaning is a waste on all levels. oil and cars are bad, bin liners make no difference, as they will always be made - dont believe the media
works for everyone I know, and when pennies count at the moment, its a heck of a saving.
.
They're only made because people buy them though.
Even biodegradable ones are pointless.
The worst offenders are food waste and apparently grass cuttings. So deal with it.
Nature smells.
If your council doesn't collect food waste separately then campaign for them to do so. It'll stop you main rubbish being really stinky AND makes compost rather than adding to stinky tips.
Compost the veggie peelings at home if you can.
Wrap things in paper if you have to put nasties in your bin.
Sprinkle in a bit of washing powder if it really hums and put a few sheets of newspaper at the bottom of the bin to absorb any liquids - and most of all please stop putting plastic in the bin that doesn't need to go there.
Bin liners are silly. Using plastic bags is a criminal waste for wrapping rubbish up.
If they charged for all carrier bags I am pretty certain people would stop throwing them away.0 -

Ask them why not. Ask if they are bringing one in.
Just scrape plates into a bit of newspaper. Work out how to wrap things up like they do in the chippy.

I've got paper bags for my packed lunches. I compost everything, but it's the food waste that is a problem and the people who dump thier dog poo in my bin! YUK!
I only use carrier bags if absolutely necessary - for really bad messy rubbish.
My bin still ends up stinky and dirty.
I asked my local council if they were doing food waste bins but they're not interested in starting this scheme.“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning,
but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”

PRESS RELEASE
End Stinky bins
Many councils offer food waste recycling which cuts down on landfill, generates compost and is better for the environment.
Food waste mixed with general waste means bins smell especially in warm weather. With the extra mild weather we've been having recently this has also been a problem this winter.
XXXX Council doesn't offer this service and many residents are frustrated by the lack of enthusiasm for recycling shown by the council.
prudent_princess says "I recycle as much as possible, but I am being hindered by the council's inaction on food waste recycling."
prudent_princess adds "Everyone I've spoken too is in favour of more recycling, especially something that will directly impact on the quality of people's lives on a daily basis"
"I'd like XXXX Council to look at implementing a food waste recycling scheme in the area"

To be honest, I dont have much food waste, cos not only do i plan ahead with meals and shopping, but I use up everything as much as possible.
It's only things that cant be re-heated or re-used or have gone off (not very often that happens tho) or the carcass from a whole chicken and such like.
This is what makes my bin stink.

YUK!
#Chicken carcasses are probably the grossest thing - but make stock from it (I have seen video of people blending up whole carcasses but that makes me feel really sick)
Freeze the nasty bits and just remember to take them out and throw them in the bin the night before the bins get collected.0
