Would you pay to have your wheelie bin cleaned ?

Luckily, my local Council had the sense to run a trial to see if wheeli-bins were the way forward, but discovered they increased collection times by 25% so dropped the idea.
I guess that now all the former drain-jetters have no jobs to do, I guess there will be loads of van-mounted pressure washing kit up for sale cheap, so expect to see loads of people plying their trade cleaning bins, drives and anything else that they can point their nozzles at.Never Knowingly Understood.

Sorry, I would be happy to pay the guy to clean my bin once a fortnight. Or the kids for that matter, especially during the summer months. Although I try to clean it with the mop and bleach I don't think I'm getting all the mucky bits off.
Yes I put all the rubbish in bin bags, sometimes 2, but they still manage to burst and get rubbish over the bin. Would rather pay someone to clean it than have maggots in it. Gross!!!!
Now my old legs and back are getting worse, it's getting harder to do each time, so I'd still rather pay to get it done4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
We pay 3 pound to have our Black Bin cleaned once a month and our green (Recycling bin) we clean ourselves.0

Is it really disgusting that I've never even considered cleaning a wheelie bin?
It lives outside! I don't care how dirty it is!
I suppose I might be tempted to do a one-off if a bag of smelly waste burst, but that would be it. Certainly not a contract.0 -
Our method with our £50 special B&Q jet washer.Wellies on & kick bin over, jet wash the inside out. Tip it up to get it all out, then stand it back up. Chuck some washing up liquid into it using the yard brush to clean the insides. Jet wash it out again, and let it drain. Scoop up any mess and put it in the bin.
Max 10 mins all done..0 -
we pay £2.50 a fortnight.
the previous owner had the cleaning company's sticker on the bin which tells them to clean it on their round.
they did say we could cancel it if we wanted to - but i feel sorry for the blokes - they are all so nice and put the bin to the back of the drive etc.
personally i dont think it needs doing every fortnight in the winter - but defo in the summer as it can get a bit smelly with dog poop
(triple bagged of course):o0 -
After seeing the state of neighbouring bins full of maggotts and worse I think my 3 pound is well spent. I used to clean both bins religiously but due to problems with shoulders I am happy for someone else to do it.
My bins dont actually get that dirty as everything is bagged/or recycled cleaned. I clean all bottles, tins, tubs etc before putting out.
However, I like to know that when someone visits me they are not knocked over by the smell, which is what would happen if they visited my neighbours. How anyone can put sh***y nappies into a bin is beyond me.
I had terry nappies and all number 2s went down the toilet and nappies soaked and washed accordingly.
It turns my stomach what some people put into bins0 -

I know what you mean - nappies and such like should be wrapped up before throwing away. I lived next door to people who had a very smelly wheelie bin! In summer there used to be tons of wasps and flies around their bin and on many occasions maggots too! Made me feel sick!
One summer we had a BBQ and all we could smell was their bin and all we could see was wasps and flies! Put us off our food I can tell you!Even when you feel like you have nothing, someone else has far less. Find them and help them. You’ll see why.....0 -
I'm also surprised to see how many people waste bags bagging stuff up for the bin?
It's a terrible thing to do to send plastic bags to landfill!0 -
