Morning all.
Thanks Shaggy and bearacus for keeping count for us, as usual, its very much appreciated.
I am VERY glad i didnt drink last night as i am feeling a bit better this morning.
I am off to go healthy food shopping this morning!
Have a great day all!0 -
Hi all,
Last week I drank half a bottle of whisky every night for 7 nights on the spin - no real trigger except that I enjoy getting drunk.
Have now set myself a target of not drinking until Thursday 23rd Feb where I will allow myself to get drunk after completing a work project.
I understand that this is completely the wrong attitude when it comes to cutting down/quitting alcohol, but at the moment it seems the best way for me.
After even one night drinking my cravings usually take 3 AF days to subside, so even if I just have one drinking night a week I spend half the week craving another drink.
Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest.
Good luck all. :T0 -
2more afds please Shaggy - that's 21 so far this month so please can I have my cheerleader - I have been SOOO envying crazymum and bearacus and bigdrinker who've got theirs already - big well done you 3 :T:T:T
AND well done cleggie for last night :j
Hi bretts7 - good luck with your plan. I get the 3 day cravings really bad so I know what you mean about 1 night's drinking taking up half a week. I've only begun to understand that since I've been on here.0 -
Good post missrlr, I like your rules. I have some similar ones and it's strange that once I've decided I am really ashamed of myself if I break one. I know I'm letting me down (and all the lovely people on here too).
Sorry to hear about the bad times a few of you are having. I thought I'd remind you of the HALT mnemonic.
Hungry
Angry
Lonely
Tired
All or any of those feelngs can be mistaken for needing a drink and need dealing with/recognising instead. For the angy/lonely/miserable type feelings I always find that doing something is the answer. It doesn't really matter what (pampering, cleaning, walking, anything) it's just that if I sit and focus on a drink and feel sorry for myself it gets worse rather than better. Hope this makes sense??
I wasn't AF last night. Had my planned single glass with a meal out. When I got home DH tried to persuade me to have more. I said no I wanted a mug of tea and he looked miserable (jokey miserable). Then I realised why, it was one of his AF nights and he was just looking for an excuse! I'll have to start praising him more, he's obviously finding it tough.
Back on the wagon tonight. Have a good day all.0 -
Gardenanna - it really is the most ridiculous thing... but I was so pleased to get the cheerleader. Tomorrow I get the little jumpy man - and am so looking forward to it. I am very pleased that someone else is as sad as me :rotfl:
Shaggy and Bearacus - you are brilliant. It works. Enough said.
You've helped me change my life and for that I will be ever grateful.0 -
Good evening everyone!
Another AF here please Shaggy, and another for the SNC please bearacus!
Not even tempted to drink tonight, so thats good0 -
