PLEASE PUT YOUR TARGET AFDs IN A BOLD RED FONT and good luck! (and if I've made any mistakes, don't be shy, please let me know!)
EVERYONE WELCOMEWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
365days hope your new hair looks fab when you get it done. Get out on your allotment girl - ispired by Peterbunny I was out gardening at 8am this morning - it was wonderful.
Cleggie brilliant, so pleased you're finding your way with the drink. I think it all just goes to show that some people can just cut down their drinking and be happy whilst those with alcoholic tendencies cannot. When I tried to cut down it was just such a constant battle, I was unhappy when I was drinking the world, I was unhappy when I was trying to drink in moderation. For me, my happiness came when I stopped - cut myself free from the constant pull towards alcohol. Far too deep and meaningful for a Saturday morning......just offloading
Shaggy :T I can diet until about 6pm and the munchies come out to play - in the form of cake, chocolate and all manner of lovely things which I wouldn't even consider eating during the daytime....0 -

Interesting conversation about 'stop buttons'. I think I've found mine too!
Thursday (planned drinking day) I had a single pub measure of gin (why????) and then went home and switched to tea.
Last night I had 2 glasses with pre-theatre supper. In interval was bought a large red but hid it under the seat when went back to auditorium (sorry cleaners:o) as I knew I'd had enough. What's strange is that no-one asked what I'd like to drink in the interval as they've not really noticed I'm much reformed from the wino I used to be.
Have a good day all, and good luck if you're planning to be AF or still searching for your stop button:D.
MissP, delighted to hear your mum has taken advice at last, now she can concentrate on getting better.0 -
Phew! Just managed to resist temptation, but only just. Near the checkout at Aldi today was a bargain bin that contained, amongst other things, a can of bitter from a 4-pack marked down to a very cheap price. I picked it up, checked out % alcohol and considered whether to buy it for a treat for not drinking for 11 days. Then I noticed another - ooh, yes! A couple of beers and a film on a Saturday night - very nice. But then I pictured myself trudging out in the rain to the open all hours shop in the village at 10pm because what would a couple more hurt?
Dropped the can back in the bin as if it was red hot - much to the pleasure of the chap behind me who took both cans.
I did buy myself a small pack of chocolate buttons as a reward - me and pup will enjoy those tonight instead
I need a much longer period without alcohol before I can even think about trying for moderation. I'm just not able to just cut down like some of the determined/disciplined folk on here - wish I could but if I ever can it's certainly not now.
Now hoping to get that smiley waving - what exactly? Knickers, a garter? Any ideas?"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -

Evening all
Peterbunny - you are very hardy, going gardening at this time of year! I always remember being dragged down the allotment to dig up parsnips etc at this time of year. Very chilly!!:rotfl:
Lizzyb - well done on resisting the cut price beer. One of my downfalls is the "3 for £10" on wine. I don't tend to drink spirits etc so the wine offers always catch my eye. I daresay they ARE a bargain for those that can stop at one or two glasses. Unfortunately for me its just a good start to a weekend. I try to avoid them nowadays.
Maman - :rotfl:at you hiding your wine under your seat. Expect an usher thought it was thier lucky day!!:rotfl:
Well, went and spent most of day at Mums. She's a bit brighter, think the antibiotics are kicking in (she's on a double lot so they should take effect quickly). Piglet thrashed Mum and me at junior monopoly :rotfl:and then had great fun for two hours in the garage with my Dad making a rocket out of an old stool, some plant pots and lots of masking tape!:rotfl:Have to say it was lovely to just sit and chat. When at home you tend to find things to do so it was nice to have a break.
Stepson is on his way over with xbox in tow (piglet very excited) so no doubt this evening will be spent playing Kung Fu Panda and various other silly gamesWon't be AF tonight but was planned and have limited amount in house

Evening all!
Just had a glass of wine whilst paying the wii with the kids, and am now back on the tea!
Getting ready for an early night0 -
14 please, Shaggy, thanks
Fell off wagon big time last night - DH and I had some Friday night wine, then opened another bottle, then another .... Felt ropey all day today, and I had to work too (I work from home). So much more difficult to concentrate with a brain mangled by wine
But on a positive note, I'm AF tonight. So I can collect DD3 later and I will feel great tomorrow. :j
Hope everybody OK

Had a pretty carp week and was rubbish alcohol wise too. Firstly the car decided to blow clouds of black smoke out of the engine. It's now at a mates garage and is likely to be the head gasket and will cost us anything up to £500
Then I had a call from DD on Fri to say that mum wasn't feeling too good. I'd only just got to work and had to leave much to my boss's disgust....I can't post on here what I thought of him!!
My colleague took me to my mum's house and I got there just after my sister. Mum couldn't even get off the bed as she had no energy at all. It took us 20 mins to get her onto a wheelie office chair as she needed to get to the bathroom. We pushed her through with me holding her legs up as they are so so swollen. When we got to the chair we couldn't get her off and onto the toilet. Then 2 nurses turned up and between the 4 of us we still couldn't manage it so the nurses took her back to bed. There were lots of phone calls and the doctor was called. We managed to get her to eat something and take her tablets then she slept on and off for a few more hours. Then at lunchtime she suddenly sat up and said she was going to the loo, and up she got and trotted off to it completely unaided. We were absolutely gobsmaked!
Anyway when the doctor eventually arrived he said it was because they had reduced her steroid dose the day before due to all the swelling. So he's put her back on the full dose for the time being and given her different tablets for the swelling.
She's fine today, bless her, and has even been out to lunch with my sister. We will be going there tomorrow. She perked up so much yesterday she phoned her insurance company and put me and DH on her insurance, and has lent us her lovely car until our one is better, so we can get to her if there is another emergency.
Anyway, suffice to say I have not been AF a lot this week but I am tonight making 7AFDs please Shaggy.
