Evening all. thanks to365, I agree if there is any alcohol in the house i have to drink it!! Cutting down doesn't seem to be an option for me.
SEVERELY TESTED 2NIGHT.
If I had any wine in the house I would be well into my first bottle.
If phoned the tax people about a small rebate was on hold for 40 mins then told all the information they had about me was wrong!!! That I was being taxed on 2 pensions, I only receive 1, and that 1 of them was a widow's pension. Nothing I said made any difference, I should check all my tax codes back to 2005.
Who understands their tax code?
Off for some camomille tea before I explode.
Have a good evening everyone.Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life!
No buying unnecessary clothes even if they are reduced.0 -
12 please, Shaggy, thanks!0

Welcome Shar-rona. Like the others here I'm so sorry for your dreadful loss and wish you all the luck in the world as you begin to change your relationship with drink. It will be hard but it will be worth it and everyone here will cheer you on your way.0

Evening everyone
Please could I have 18AF days now Shaggy
Shar-rona - (((hugs))) well done for coming on here and telling your story - however sad and hard it must have been.
There's nothing much to add - such wise words from everyone.
I tried to cut down....but in the end rather like 365days, I realised that I was never really going to win the battle.
I guess some people can cut down and some people just never really get there. I am now 23 days AF - I never ever thought I'd be able to do it but I have....and I feel absolutely amazing for it. Still treading with caution and reading AA books manically but I feel like I've cut free from the horrible grip which alcohol had on me.
Just make the commitment to stay with this thread - you will probably fall many times along the way (I did) but people will help you up and you will find your way forward - good luck
Peterbunny - hope you're enjoying planning your gardenI had a whole load of seed packets arrive today :j I'm now looking at a few plug plants to order - fell in love with gazanias last year so they will be on my list.
Idris - since stopping drinking I have never eaten so much chocolate and rubbish (however I havn't put on weight so far...) I think along with AF days there should be CFD - chocolate free days, however although I've had a CFD today....I seem to have baked a particularly delicious lemon drizzle cake
of which there is not much left (confessions - I also made one yesterday and the day before :rotfl:even my children are bored of them)

Evening all
AFD no 11 for Jan please Shaggy and 3 for the SNC please Bearacus.
Hi Shar-rona what a terrible tragedy you and your family have had to come to terms with. You obviously feel now is the time to stop using alcohol as a crutch and this is a great place for support in doing that however you choose to do it. This thread has helped me enormously, I never thought I would be able to go one night without a bottle of wine (my nightly tipple for years ) let alone be able to go days and even a week without a drink. I think less and less about it now and more about the new oppertunities not drinking are bringing me.
Good luck tonight, may it be the first step on your road to a new life.

Hi everyone
Welcome to the forum Shar-ona, sorry to hear of your loss and well done in starting to deal with the amount you re drinking. You will find lots of support here.
14 AF please Shaggy. Almost caved in this eve, went so far as to put a bottle of wine in the fridge to chill but then fell asleep on sofa, woke at 8pm and craved a cup of tea instead so put wine back. :jIt’s not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts0 -
Welcome Shar-rona -((((hugs)))) to you and your family...such a sad and tragic loss, my heart goes out to you x
I'm a great believer in taking it one day at a time.... maybe even one hour at a time. If you normally pour your first drink at 6.00pm why don't you see if you can push it back to 7.00pm...and when you get to 7.00 see if you could maybe push it back to 8.00 etc. I used this technique when I first started cutting back and found that if I could get to 9.00pm then the danger time had passed as I could get myself off to bed AF
I think above all try to keep reading this thread (even if you don't feel able to post), we all have ups and downs but knowing you're not alone can give you a huge amount of strength and support. I wish you lots of luck on your AF journey and look forward to *seeing* more of you.

Hi shar-rona and welcome to the thread
your experience sounds awful and I'm so sorry for your loss, but you've found the right place to get on track with your drinking - just try to take one step at a time and dont let initial setbacks get you down. FYI I'm trying tO go completely AF, coming off the back of a habit similar to yours, and I feel great for it
Speaking which 18 afd please shaggy!0
