  • Hi everyone, just come back from the quacks. Increasing my sertraline to 100mg from today, hope it helps with the anxiety which makes me more likely to drink.
18 AFD and 1 SNC so far. I hope I can make it AF til end of January as I haven't set a target, so here goes, I love you all very much for all you've done, really feel part of something and together we can beat alcohol.

Well done 41. Great to have you back! This thread is amazing isn't it. So much support and zero judgment, because lets face it, we've all been there or we wouldn't be here!
Well done for going to the doctors. Are you have any counselling or anything? I take anti-depressants and also have cognitive behaviour therapy. I have also had lots of counselling in the past and it really helps. Take all the help you can get. As they often say at my meeting 'you are dealing with alcohol cunning, baffling...' It's not your fault, we are slaves to this drug. I'm so happy you are back and I hope the anti-depressant help. My friend is on the same as you and they really helped her get even enough to deal with everyday life and then work on herself. Good luck and if drinking or not, post if you can because we miss you when you don't!!!! XXXXX

Cuppa I'm a single parent too, not of my chioce and I know how bewildering it can be! You need to phone up the jobcentre and tell them you are now a lone parent and can you get some help. They should invite you for an interview with the lone parent team and they will sort everything out for you. This is not as scary as it sounds. They are trained to be sensitive and each desk comes complete with sympathy and a box of tissues!!!!! Don't panic, just give them a call and they will sort out all the paperwork. And don't worry about jobseekers V income support etc. at this point you just need to get in the system. Good luck xxx

Me and OH have been sitting down to dinner, picking up imaginary wine glasses and saying "cheers". Is that just tormenting myself, lol?

I've donated another £10 to the charity I support and work for, World Vision, which is a bit mean really as I'd spend more than that on a weekend's worth of wine. I know I can't post links on here, so I'll post one on the Charity board if anyone's interested in what I'm up to.

    Hugs xx

I don't think that's tormenting. Think of it as celebrating in an AF way! As far as being mean with the charities is concerned I think we all have to donate what we can. Without the AFness that might have been nothing. As this is an mse site then using some of the money saved to get your own finances in order (plus a little reward for acheivement maybe;)) isn't a problem for me.

Reading through the posts I can see that you are all achieving amazing feats of AF nights! I now have 9 AF days to celebrate which isn't as high as some of your numbers but i'm pleased with nonetheless!

Been a good week so far! Keep up the good work Everyone - last year was supposed to be the end of the year and we're still here so lets really make this year count!!!

    Hi all

Managed to stay AF last night, so 18 please Shaggy and one for the SNC please mackeroo :)

I have taken the left over beer into the garage so it isnt staring at me!

Cuppa - as jak has said - just make an appointment to talk to someone asap - better than worrying about it

  • Hi everyone
Tracy, well done on moving alcohol (out of sight, out of mind).
Stupotstu, this is a lifestyle choice so the numbers will even out over time. Sometimes we have a good run and other times not so good.
Jak, I see the Counsellor at my GPs and have had CBT in the past.

Bit of a weird day really. Feeling really tired now, my dad gave me some money so I paid £100 off my credit card which I am really chuffed with. Hoping to pay my Very account off within next few days. So tired, so hopefully will catch up with you all later, everything's great and I think I will be AF tonight, not in the mood to drink at all.
