Whatever you do, don't get started on the Worcestershire sauce!:rotfl:

Thats what makes it so addictive! I'm craving it now!
  • Im glad I make you chuckle Crazymum!! On my birthday a load of us were in the pub and I happily plonked myself on a little stool/pouffe thing in the corner and merrily sang songs from Bugsy Malone at the top of my voice all evening. Everyone else had a great time celebrating my birthday while I warbled away *blush*

  • Good evening everyone and welcome to the new posters, you are definitely in the right place.
AF yesterday so another 1 off my total please Shaggy and 1 more for the SNC Bearacus
I never really thought about day three being the most difficult but it's true the bells always ring loudest for me on a Wednesday when I'm doing the SNC. Once I've got day three out of the way Thursday is usually no problem (probably because I'm anticipating having a drink on Friday evening :o). I have just got in from work and the bells are really pealing so I thought I would come online as I don't eat or drink when I'm using the computer (due to an unfortunate incident involving a cup of coffee, BSOD no recovery ).
I intend to be AF today and have my 'supplies' i.e lime cordial and soda water all ready but I'm not declaring until tomorrow. Have a good evening everyone.

Declaring early tonight as I still have this rotten cold and also I'm going to bed in a mo as the football's on. Hopefully if I get a good nights sleep I will be able to shift this cold. Had a few drinks last night as was out at my weekly bingo, but it was a planned drinking night.

5 please Shaggy and 2 SNC please Bearacus xx

  • I've never posted on any forum, anywhere, before so am a true newbie.

I'm so glad I stumbled on this, some moral support is just what I need.Giving up smoking's socially acceptable (did that 20 years ago, and still miss it occasionally ) - there are ads on TV, people ask how you're doing, you're a star! NOT so cutting down on the vino. Admitting to drinking too much isn't on... you're alone.

8 AFDs so far this month and am feeling quite positive. Also the wine that I've had was given to me and therefore I can still congratulate myself that I haven't BOUGHT any this year!

Thing that's helped most so far is to drink loads of water; take lots of walks; oh, and Sainsburys pressed red grape juice is good too.

    Best wishes everyone

  • Evening everyone & welcome to all recent newbies....isn't it great to have such a lively and supportive thread ??

Well tonight I had my first major wobble of the year so far - I too find Wednesdays really hard but for no reason that I can fathom.

Anyway, after a supportive chat from my OH (who is currently AF due to medication) and after having a very small bag of Cadburys buttons, stolen from my daughters treat drawer, I managed to abstain and am declaring 11 AFDs pls Shaggy.

I am in two minds with regards my drinking really. Half of me thinks it would just be better all round to knock it on the head forever (I come from a long line of alcoholics so know I don't have genetics on my side). The other half of me thinks I should go for my Jan target and thereafter aim to only drink when out socialising but abstain from drinking at home. My OH is not a heavy drinker and can certainly turn it on and off with ease
Anyway, I mentioned my quandary to him this evening and he suggested I talk it through with someone (AA for example) Funnily enough had been thinking the same thing and had actually already looked up my local AA meetings. Has anyone (who is still drinking) taken or thought of taking this next step ?

Sorry for the "war & peace" post......
