Thanks Mummy, you're right of course. I just had a 'go down the bottom of the garden and eat worms' moment! I will stay in touch with my other friends and be polite in company. All I can do really! I'm signed off with anxiety and depression at the moment although my anti-depressants are working now i'm not drinking on them, so I just need to stay calm and make other plans (NOT including alcohol!)
My little boy is going to Daddys on Sunday for 2 nights so i'll be able to get to meetings. I went on Monday but the next I can get to is Sunday. However, I spoke on Sunday! I thought i'd be terrified but I wasn't and it helped sssssoooooooo much!
Anyhow, good luck to everyone. BTW 41, I've been 'slimming' and instead of chocolate and sweets I've been having options hot choc (40 calories- so practically the same as a cuppa tea with milk) and frozen yogurts (yummy and very sweet) and frozen grapes. I've also been making myself really nice dinners. Yesterday I can plaice, pot wedges with bbq sauce and salad. Really tasty. The weight is coming off. I've been exercising and being careful now for 9 days and i've lost 4.5lbs! Not having wine has really helped! Anyway, best of luck and there's a losing weight thread that's really good and supportive if you want to check that out. It always helps me to have online support. X

Passing through quickly, but Jak, your doing so well esp with toxic mummy and all her carp. I've been there too with "friends" and i'm a year on now from a close friendship that went down the drain, we still see each other daily as our children are in the same class, but we are polite to each other, respectfully too.

Well done to all, we as a group are doing so well, the energy in this place is so different from last month, lots of NY resolutions and dryathlons i guess.

I'm hoping to come back tonight but if i don't i'm on 7/18 AF and 3 SNC but am quite sure that will increase by tonight. Mind is focused. I've had quite a few stresses this week but even though i've comtemplated twice having a drink, the thread and the knowledge it won't help has stopped me.

Btw does anyone else get night sweats when they have had alcohol say 3-4 units or more. I do get them anyway when I am hormonal but i'm starting to notice a pattern when I have more than I should. Not raging drunk, just more than is sensible. Is it me?

Nope not just you. I used to get them when I drank- so a lot! I think it's your bodies way of trying to get rid of the toxins x

So sorry to hear you're down this morning jak but I really did enjoy your comments about plenty of fish.

It's great to look down Shaggy's list and see so many people on 7+ days. It must be some sort of record! :T

    8 AFDs please Shaggy.

Well what a day, I am exhausted (again). At work I have been bitten by a very angry 3 year old, not had a break all day and still had to bring work home. Only to be shouted at by my 16 year old and find that no one has done anything towards tea or anything that needs doing at home

Soooo I really feel like a drink...but I have to be taxi in a bit so am having a strong coffee and 10 mins to myself instead. Then once I'm home it'll be shower and bed as early as I can, ready for the next round of fun tomorrow!

Jak - You are doing amazingly well and sometimes culling the dead wood of our friends is a therapeutic thing to do. Remember you are the one getting stronger in so many ways every day and you have so much to offer, don't waste it on anyone who doesn't deserve it.

Hi to everyone else, we're doing good so far :)

Right off to do my taxi run so am going to declare 9 AFD and 5 SNC please ladies,

    Night

10 AF days for me now. We had a team lunch for a colleague who is leaving, and 7 out of 9 had wine... but I resisted, yay.

I've shifted 1.5 lbs of the 4 lbs I put on over Christmas/New Year. That's pretty good for me, as I don't lose weight quickly, despite putting it on quickly.

My doggie is much improved today, and has got her appetite back.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

You are so right, now you are cutting the drink out Jak you will find that you can see things clearly, even the way people behave around you and you may not like what you find. This is frightening but very good in the long run. Anyway im replying to mari now lol. Well done, you are handling situations that you probably wouldn't have been able to do before. I know that when your having a groundhog day or worst day of your life booze is the best soother there is but it is so easy and so not helpful. Like taking a mallet to crack a peanut. You are making progress, and i am very proud of you thankyou for your post about real problems and situations you are encouraging us all.
