It's my cover story for now and hopefully raise some money for charity. You sign up for the whole of Jan but no one is going to check as it were, I just wanted to stop drinking without everyone asking why X
You can sign up til the 6 Jan xNo problem at all. Just doing what others did for me way back when. Just think, in time you may be doing it for someone else and so it continues.......good karma.:)
Great to hear so much positivity on here. I'm back on the agon with you all tonight. It's so easy to slip back into a drink every day in that limbo time over Christmas/New Year.
It occurred to me that many newbies may be glad of tips of how to cope when starting the AF journey. Obviously Number One is signing up to this thread for the wonderful, non-judgemental support it gives. Then many people worry how they're going to stop their drinking mates persuading them to have a drink. Like jak says the dryathlon (whether doing it formally or not) is a brilliant way of explaining that. Others have mentioned investing in nice soft drinks, kudzu, milk thistle. Personally I love to see the days clocking up like a star chart for grown-ups:D.0 -
I wasn't totally af yesterday, as had a drink in the early hours of the new year, but nothing after that. Today should be my first af day of the new year. Good luck to everyone with their targets.0

I'm not suggesting you cheat but personally if I stayed up after midnight on NYE I'd count that drinking as December. My AF days run from when I get up to when I go to bed regardless of the time.0 -
Thanks maman as was a unclear as to what constitutes an af. That does make sense. Will go by that rule within reason.0

My biggest task will be at the weekend and if I visit my parents, as I drink due to the boredom there. Shouldn't be an issue for me not drinking during the week.0

2nd AFD I won't drink tonight but I'm not fooling myself or anybody else for that matter because I know it is the weekend which will be the proverbial thorn.
Feeling good about it so far and I send everyone else my very best wishes for you to stay strong.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Hooray! Another AF for me, that's my 4th day AF! I can't remember the last time that happened! I'm so chuffed. Getting to be a bit of a fatty boom-boom tho as I'm stuffing my face, but as a helpful lady at a meeting said, 'don't worry about your figure dear, it's better than being dead'... (in Scotish accent, was hilarious!) Anyway, will sort that when I get my exercise bike and stuff off my friend. Really hope it's tomorrow tho... Not very good at being big. Drives me crazy.
Anyway, I've my little boy back today and I went to Tescos...Didn't buy wine for the first time ever in there. Despite being driven mad this afternoon by little man, I've managed to cope and not buy anything. Phew. It's seeming like a bloody long haul tonight though.
