Hi to everyone old and new joining in, good luck for tonight let's hope the bells stay silent :)

Fedupandskint ~ I remember you :j you are doing amazingly well, it's stories like your that I need to hear, that is what I want to be saying next year.

Right then, day 1, and I have just poured rest of open wine away so no more temptation in the house. DH is totally on board too which is great. We have just had a lovely salmon stir fry for tea with a glass of fizzy water, will have a herbal tea later and that should see me through, so I am going to declare 1 AFD please Shaggy.
I have decided to start taking milk thistle and kudzu again as I believe they were of some help last time I really tried to cut down. I am not sure what others have experienced but anything is worth a go I think.

    Have a lovely evening everyone,
    Mari x

1st AF day of the year for me but the real critical control point will be Friday night. I have camomile tea in the cupboard so will treat myself to some 'wee tea' which is how it looks :)

jak I can talk with you until about 9pm if that will help you? I've got studying to do in the daytime but should be OK between 7 til 9.

Let me know, I don't mind. I know what it's like to think "I'm not going to bother drinking tonight" only for it to get to 5.30pm and think aw bu**er it I'll just have a couple and stop but the couple turns into 8.

Thanks Kitty. I'm going to a meeting so that should help. I will keep posting as it's really helped me through today. It's funny, I spoke to a friend who is pregnant yesterday who I know has been concerned about my drinking. She was soo pleased I've stopped. Then called me last night to see if I wanted to come to the pub...as she's not drinking so id have a teetotal pal. Love her, but anyway, I didn't go. I went to bed like a miserable !!!!!! and got grumpy when the new years firework woke me up. I'm not always like this...honestly. It's ridiculous. I'm normally quite cheerful. Actually, reading that back i'm normally quite drunk. Anyway, ramble over. Off to drink my detox tea and wait for my lift Xx

My 1st AF day, for quite a while, and to be honest I don't expect it to be a problem.

It will be when I go back to work on Thursday (because of the stress) and the weekends that I will struggle.

I have also told my family it's for January, but want to be able to have a social drink now and then. I don't want to drink at home anymore.

Back to work tomorrow, I can't wait, I am a routine person, sad I know!

I have another date on Sat, one day in 2013 I will meet a nice man, ha ha ha

This made me really smile. It took me ages to realise that I was a totally different person to who I was when I was drinking. To be honest i think it's the hardest part of giving up.

You have a HUGE adventure in front of you. You have just taken the brakes off your life.:T

    1 AF please Shaggy

Although i didnt go overboard last night with the amount of drink, i did mix it up quite a bit which resulted in having a pretty bad hangover this morning Grrrr. I offered to drive today when visiting family so this has kept me in check today. Really looking forward to waking up full of beans tomorrow :j

A big hello to our newbies, welcome aboard and look forward to getting to know you all.

Hapy New Year and hello to all the new faces and all the folks coming back to the thread - Sparkles, of course we remember you, glad to see it's still going well.

I'm reporting AFD 1 as I have had nothing stronger than tea today. I confess that it's the first one in far too long!
    Trying to keep in budget.
