I enjoy a drink when I'm cooking but I must learn to pace it. Any ideas? Anyone else behave like this?

    Completely!!

It has almost become the rules that whilst I cook I have a glass of wine. If I am at home cooking dinner then it means that I am on a day off so I already have a euphoric holiday vibe going on in my head! What I actually have done is several things to stop me being half slaughtered by the time my other half comes home from work.

    1) Measure the wine out rather than free pour so that you actually know that you have had the equivalent of 1 pub measure glass of wine whilst you cook dinner rather than the 2.5 that a freely poured one is!
    2) Use a normal, non designer simple wine glass to drink out of whilst preparing dinner. I don't know about you but my wine glasses are so enormous that out of a full bottle of wine myself and other half get a glass of wine each and a 2nd top up and it is gone. If you go to refill the smaller wine glass then there is the conscious awareness then that you are having "more" rather than just steadily drinking with a large glass!
    3) Cup a soup! Open a cup a soup - 40 calories to sip whilst you make dinner. It gives you something to drink but also stops you from picking at food at the same time. Once you finish your soup do you still feel like a glass of wine??

Okay number 3 is the hardest to do but i do feel happy when I do it !!

    Good Luck!!

    Stupotstu!

Had wine last night but tonight will be AF!

Great idea Stupotstu, I too think the cook needs a drink but it too easily decimates a bottle. Not good on an empty stomach.

13/15 for me now, which I'm chuffed about. And I'm working tomorrow night promoting child sponsorship for World Vision - which means I won't get home til nearly midnight, so should be AF.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

    Morning :hello:

    Friday night AF:A

Mind you I ate so many matchmakers and pringles last night that I have just realised I could have had a bottle of wine for the amount of calories I consumed smiley-devil.gif Just 5 matchmakers = 100+ calories scared_smiley.gif OMG who knew ?

    Oh well :o

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

    Hi Everyone
Hope you all well. No more AF to report as was out last night and again this eve but just wanted to share a frustration of mine from last night. I was out on girls night, we started of sharing a bottle of wine and then went onto spirits with mine being vodka and diet tonic. Despite me asking for a single measure, when friend returned from the bar, everytime i got a double because 'its only an extra penny to double up'. No wonder Scotland has such a drink problem only charging an extra penny for a large measure. Rant over. Going to friends for dinner this eve so will be more in control of the amount i drink.

Any takers for next weeks SNC? Just let me know.

Have come to post to confess!
I drank again last night :(
So an appaling 50% for the SNC...
Will try to be good this weekend - feeling hormonal, which drinking makes me worse anyway! One day I will learn

Dont be too hard on yourself, 50% is better than 0%

Totally agree that it's irresponsible marketing although the mse in me would try and buy a double and share it!
