:Tyou're doing really well Shaggy!:) and well done cupcake on getting so many days 'banked' so soon. It's a good feeling.

I'm out at a charity dinner tonight and planning to have a glass with my meal. I know I won't be AF but it pleases me knowing I can be in control.

It’s not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts
  • Feeeling very in control right now :)
No more AF days to report but I have managed to have one glass on a few occasions now and that feeling of control is great.

Dear Rachel, have a massive hug from me and a truck load of sympathy - I really do empathise, losing your Mum is super difficult to deal with. As Shaggy said, You're in a really dark place at the moment and there is a light at the end of the tunnel but you have to open your eyes and focus on it to see it.
Have you spoken to your GP about your drinking? S/he may able to help with a programme to cut down or some medication to help. Shaggy's suggestion of pushing your 'start time' back each day also makes a lot of sense - try anx distract yourself when the bells start ringing, go out for a walk, have a shower, anything but just start with baby steps.
Come back soon and let us know how you are
    Trying to keep in budget.

  • Thanks to all..especially gien....that really moved me x. I have been drinking again tonight :(. But I have made an appointment with the hypnotherapist for next thursday. She seemed really nice and said that whe could help with all of my issues. Yes I have to pay for it, but she was so much nicer than the woman from the NHS. I can go till really quite late til having a drink ( 9 0r 10 o'clock)....It's the sitting at home alone after DH has gone to bed that gets to me.then I just feel the need to go out and socialise.

I spoke to DH tonight and said yes I think I'm probably an alcoholic. But I think he is too but he just wouldn't comprehend it. It really doesn't help that he works in the alcohol business :(

I'm really hoping the hypnotherapy does something for me.....we are going to concentrate on how I feel about losing mum first (haven't cried yet and it's been over 6 months) then hopefully everything else will fall into place. If not she will help me with the alcohol, panic attacks and smoking.

At last I feel like someone is taking an interest and listening to me

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
