EVERYONE WELCOMEWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Hi
Managed 4 A/F days in a row, but it's our wedding anniversary tomorrow and we're booked into a lovely hotel, so I know there's going to be wine drunk on Friday and Saturday. I'm not so worried about that, because it will be "out in the open", not hidden drinking.
Satchmo xWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
*shuffles in sheepishly*
Hello all, I am still on the never ending quest to find my stop button. (I drink BIG or not at all- once I start I cant seem to stop myself resulting usually in injuring myself- I have a huge scar on my forehead from my birthday this year and often get bruised etc. I am still in denial that my huge bone breaking incident - 9 months recovery 2x operations was drink related. It was )
I lost it big time over the summer resulting in a period of drinking everyday, in the day, drinking due to NEED not want, and feeling thoroughly rubbish.
Fast forward to now and I am grabbing that stop button with both hands. My DH is completely on board with me and we went for a drink for a friends birthday last week and set ourselves a limit of two drinks each. We lasted from 7pm til 10.30 when we sloped off to get a curry and sat in the restaurant drinking WATER! The birthday boy at this point was on about pint 7 and we were SOOOO bored LOL
Last night I had less than half a cider, the night before we went out for DH's birthday and had one glass of wine and half a tiger beer!
I am absolutely loving the clear head, lack of mental health type feelings (I have OCD and anxiety issues- not "OCD" like cleaning but proper full blown compulsive thoughts etc- HORRID)
I am feeling so very on control at the moment and dont want this feeling to end. It is my youngest DD's birthday party saturday and normally "her" party (yeah right, mine) would morph into a massive !!!! up but this year Im not even seeing it as an "excuse" to drink (to excess)
I am also loving weekends that aren't completely written off- I have 4 kids and DH and I both work and weekends are the only time we can get "stuff" done and this weekend gone I was in the shop at 7.15am buying the papers to take back to bed! Blissful and makes a change from waking up feeling like a mess!
ANyway enough about me- hows everyone else doing? I will try to have a quick catchup but its been MONTHSHave nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

Morning
Well I was having a great day yesterday but then it turned to crap as I have been called back for another mammogram after my first one. Given that 1 in 14 are called back it could be nothing...but it could be something. My next appointment has been booked at hospital for Monday but I'm going to see if I can get in today or tomorrow. I'd rather get it over with.
So I had a glass of wine last night and thankfully I slept well.
Oh and on the plus side I have lost another 2 pounds taking me to 11 pounds lost in total.
Shaggyx
Well done on the extra weight loss!
Hope they manage to fit you in, its the waiting thats the worst - and only 1 glass of wine, wow, very impressed:D0 -
:hello:idris, good to see you back. It does take time to find the stop button. With the support of DH, I'm sure you'll develop new habits.Hi

I know thee are some people here who feel they need to give up completely but for others it's about being able to be a social drinker but knowing where to stop. Enjoying a drink to celebrate your anniversary is perfectly 'normal'. Enjoy it, then jump back on the wagon when you get back. Happy Anniversary!
Hope you managed to get an appointment Shaggy. Do keep us posted.:A0 -

openscreen wrote: »1 more AFD to add please!
I had to work away yesterday & stayed in a hotel on Tuesday night. This is always my downfall. I had beer with my evening meal, then got 4 cans of Stella to take back to the hotel, where I had work to do. Went to bed, work then drove home. Took some cans in the house, & drank those over the last few hours. I recently had work in Canada (2 weeks ago) & then Italy (1 week ago), & I did the same ( drank with meals & then on my own my hotel).
I have more AFD at home because I think about my wife, & the nonsense my drinkings caused. But when away, I think no-one will know, & drink anyway!
Sorry for the lapse. Going to be AF until then end of the month.
Shaggy can you amend my TF to 15 please.
Same situation. Everytime I'm away, I do exactly the same. It used to be twice a week at least, now its probably monthly. It's lonely but it is really an excuse.
Now I try and drink weaker stuff.:oSmoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general0 -
idristhedragon - Welcome back! I've had a similar summer (mad daytime drinking because I need it), but without your pressures. Glad you're getting in control and hope it lasts!:jSmoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general0
