    please!

Mrs R - I'm trying to put myself in MrR's (direct) situation (I'm scarily close enough already:() but I can't. I don't know whether being told exactly what I am by my wife would push me deeper into the pit or give me the reality kick I needed.

All I can think is that you are doing everything you can to help :A and you are being the best wife you can be and I'd want you in my corner in any fight.

Thank you all again and hugs to everyone struggling (and not, just hugs all round really!):D

New day tomorrow and good luck to those trying to stay AF tonight.

That's exactly the problem Markman!! Whenever we have talked about it and if I have dared to use the term Alcoholic MrR gets all huffy and I'm the one left feeling like the bad guy!!

  • Hi All,

Been pretty busy so haven't had time to post. Will have a proper catch up tomorrow when I have the time.

    Hope everyone is doing okay.

He is using his defence mechanism, which I guess we would all do faced with a situation we would rather deny. I know when I was confronted about my eating disorder over 18 months ago, I lied and denied it as I didn't want it to be a label on me or be accountable. By agreeing and admitting I had an eating disorder would mean I would have to change and face up to it. By denying it meant I could carry on.

Same with anything if you have an addictive personality. Nothing can change until the person wants to.

I am trying to change the alcohol and eating disorder together as at times they have been linked. Same for someone with cigarettes, except I guess you don't need fags to live, food you do.

Sorry that didn't meant to sound condescending, just putting my thoughts on things.

    Evening everyone!

MrsR - MrR will know the cap fits but will outwardly be in denial. Let him stew on it and don't keep pushing it - it might get more barriers put up and make him drink more to blot out the obvious. IMHO.

Another trip to the gym this evening instead of the pub :D Now almost tea time, then I plan to stick to squash and go for a new PB of 3 consecutive days AF - does that get me a gold medal? :rotfl:

Good luck to everyone - soon be Friday now!
Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general :p
