I had been searching for a miracle cure and found a book. Beat the Booze by Edmund & Helen Tirbutt read and truly haven't had any problem stopping completely!! It is amazing! They dont moralise, tell you to give up I dont know why it has worked so well but it has!

Just noticed that there is also a book called

Morning all. Hope everyone achieved their aims yesterday.

One more AF day for me please Shaggy (2 of 6 - an unexpectedly good start, but I can't get complacent).

Antonic - that was one hell of a choice, based on a hangover and general wanting alone. I thought there was some monumentous event that made you go for it. Well, it's good that there wasn't. A good luck on keeping up the good work.

Thanks to everyone for the wishes and support.

Today will be a hard one as I'm working at home all day, and while it has never been a problem until very recently, it has become a bit of a habit to have a pub lunch, and then that's any chance of an AF evening gone.:o

I'll just have to be strong, as I LOVE these clear-headed mornings. In fact, its more the fact that I know I was AF the day before! So I don't have to hate myself so much today

Right, better crack on with a productive day.

    Have a good one all!:A
Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general :p

Put your wallet somewhere difficult today so you have time to think before you grab it back.

Its the last day of the summer hols, so am going to make the most of this good weather and also get uniform, bags ready, early nights and generally sorted........totally AF of course.

MarkMan, I just wondered if you would find AF days easier if you didnt have any alcohol in the house on the you were planning on being AF free. Its not winking at you then and you may feel stronger too? Just a thought.

    Thanks Cuppa.

It's not having alcohol in the house as I know 100% I wont drink it if I'm sober. For me, my "chill time" is going to the local with a good book after work. Everything then goes downhill after those couple of pints - I get the taste. Having said that, I have to ask why I do have it in the house (except that I paid for it and I'm tight :D) but pouring it away would caused raised eyebrows with DW. She already thinks its weird that we are a) are not going to the pub when she gets in b) I'm sat there drinking soft drinks with tea and right until bed time.

I am already leaving all my cash at home (unfortunately can't leave cards for various reasons.

Anyway, as long as I don't go down the local, I'm good for the night.

    Got to go now.

What you need is a displacement activity!!:D What about a good walk in the fresh air - in the opposite direction to the pub!:rotfl:Like you, I have any amout of booze on offer at home but as I've cut down I've become a lot more discerning. There was a time when I'd switch to sherry in the late evening so I didn't make it obvious I'd finished a bottle of wine but didn't want to be seen opening another.

Interesting article in today's paper about fatty liver deposits. Apparently a higher percentage of serious medical problems are caused by obesity than alcohol. It's not saying it's safe to drink too much but must watch the waistline too. I thought it would be of interest to those of us (like me) who have cut down booze to cut calories as well as other associated problems.
  • Wow, just had a mammoth reading session after my last post!!
You have all been busy - good to see :)

MarkMan - you are doing great :j
In actual fact, everyone is doing great!

I have got 1AF to report for Sep - as I am seeing this new guy, we went out for a curry on Sat, which involved ways more lager than necessary, so we both suffered the next day :(
Sunday I didn't have a drink, and last night I cooked him tea so we had some wine with it

My kids are back off thier hols with their Dad tonight, so am aiming to be AF for a few days

I am taking my 10 year old boy camping with his football team at the weekend, and think I will need wine to block the noise out lol

Shaggy, can I go TF again please
