Cuppa Tea Thank you for sharing too. I do think if you are brought up around a lot of drinking it does normalise it to a certain extent. You are just fine and doing so well, just remember most people have things going on behind closed doors that others wouldn't have a clue about. I'm sure my work mates would be very surprised if they knew what I am capable of drinking on a bad day!

MrsR I have made so many excuses in the past as to why that bottle of wine is more important than x,y or z. But believe me I can honestly say that my kids have recently found their voices and are very vocal about my drinking, which I know shows they care, and it has certainly helped me rethink things. I know mine were a lot older when I started drinking but I do just hope MrR finds his stop button before your little one asks blunt questions as bless them they say it how it is to whomever they please (usually the nice lady on the checkout at MrT's :) ) Hope baby group was fun!

Right I'm off out to another joyous meeting yippee, so defiantly no drinking tonight :)So can I declare another AFD please Shaggy, thank you.

Oh and de1amo perhaps I should just move to Turkey...there is no way I could afford £25 a bottle!

Have a lovely evening all :D

CuppaTea and Mari, your stories are so like mine! I think there's s lot more like us too out there.
I try to monitor my moods closely and I've noticed my mental health deteriorating recently (and my self medication with alcohol increasing), so i went to the Docs and I have started taking anti depressants again (i have a long history of depressive episodes). So now drinking really isn't a good idea - you can have maybe a small glass every now and then but that's all, so I'll be cutting down a lot, which is no bad thing!
    Trying to keep in budget.

    1 more for me pls

I've just got in from work and feeling pretty shattered, quite a full on day before I even got to work.

No.2 loved her induction afternoon and it was funny seeing No.1 and a few others in reception come and help show the little kids around. Didn't seem that long ago that he was in the same position, time flies.

Mari, your right and Gien too, i bet there are more people, decent people who have just let things slide and before you know it the treat becomes a habit, the trick is to stop it getting to the addiction stage.

Do you ever find yourself avoiding going out of an evening so you can drink or engineer situations to involve alcohol? I know I have, which concerns me as my life shouldn't be based around it. That's definitely given me something to think about and working two evenings now means I can't drink on those nights and makes it easier in many respects.

I'm tired and waffling, best i finish up my cuppa and get to bed.
    Night all.

:rotfl:Also if you dont mind my asking Mari, have your kids or husband noticed your efforts the last few days and have any comments been made?

I hope so. Are you saving the money you would normally spend or just letting it sit in the pot?

PriceySOS, how are you, its nice to see you update but I hope your ok.

Mark, been a bit quiet your end too, just been wondering about you as well.

Right i really must go to bed now, i'm waffling for england tonight. :D

Morning all, misty and murky here, I'm missing the sun already :(

Well last nights meeting went on until half ten and by time I got home it was gone eleven, so I feel shattered this morning! Never mind nearly the weekend!

CuppaTea I'm so glad your DD enjoyed her afternoon yesterday. My lot have noticed and are being very supportive, DH is on a diet as well so not drinking which helps. The money (not really sure if there is any i reality, I have used money earmarked for other things ie food, clothes etc or used my credit card, when I had one), well that is going into the 'lets get the remainder of our debt paid of asap pot' as spending it has contributed to the debt in the first place
Engineering things to get a drink, me? Never!!!! Honestly, I probably know every trick in the book! However, having teenagers that do clubs, work evenings, DH working away some night etc puts a bit of a kibosh on that most nights at the mo which is a very good thing!

gien I hope you are doing OK my dear. Well done for getting to the doctors and getting something sorted before your depression takes hold. Take care.

missrlr Well done for being AF in Belgium :) are you feeling better now?

Right must get off for work! Have a great day everyone!

    Mari x

I'm fine, thank you very much for asking. :j Just really, really busy at the moment with work and my 3 DD's are planning all sorts of trips etc over summer. I'm so preoccupied that I almost forgot about a conference call this week and client had to phone me to remind me :o However, when I'm this busy, it is easier to ignore the bells when they start clanging, because I really do not have time to sit there drinking wine and then lose even more time the next day with a headache and general malaise!

I hope all is OK in Cuppa land, and that everybody else on this thread is doing well too
