    Hi all,

No AF days yet but have had much less than I would normally and went to sleep completely sober last night! Took a while to sleep but knowing that I wouldn't feel ropey in the morning meant I didn't mind.

I'm managing to change my routine to avoid key drinking times and my consumption has reduced dramatically (okay still early days).

I've got a follow-up counselling session this weekend and I feel I have shown I can cut down and should be able to cut down further as routines change and the benefits (weight loss, better sleep, happier mornings etc) kick in.:)

    Have a good day all.

    4 please, Shaggy, thanks

Cuppa: I really feel for you with your relationship with DH. I've been through similar, things have now improved vastly (after 20 years) as DD1 (Type A, like DH and moi) is now at university and even better, DH is working in Cardiff during the week so only see him at weekends. :j We discussed divorce several times (still do, when he returns to his old chaotic and selfish habits, but not as often as before) I'm starting to see benefits from staying together as the DD's get older and more independent and we are able to do things together like going on bike rides with a picnic which we haven't been able to do for many years. :) It's also useful when DD1 brings her lovely boyfriend home, and DH can talk to him about man things, whereas I'm pretty useless at small talk :) So good luck, things can only get better :D

Markman, you sound in a much better place than even a week ago, well done you and so much more positive too. This place definitely helps you stay focus and want to try.

Pricey, thanks for that, helps to know that others have been through the same and come through it. Even in the last 24hrs we have both felt a bit closer to each other but that could be cos we are both making an effort, the time will tell over the coming weeks as we both have to avoid slipping into old habits.

Must go, i'm planning on taking the children out today and got a picnic to pack up and dinner to sort so i haven't got to come home to it, plus washing, showering, tidying. Urgh, why did I come on here when I have so much to do?

Shaggy please can you amend me to 3AF days for June, i did my 3 day yesterday. Thanks.

Well done Markman! i have come to the realisation that i have routine drinking times and i consciously make myself busy and 'touch wood' i have avoided relapse--my danger time is between leaving work in the late afternoon and when my wife gets home some 3 hours later. By dinner time i was usually sober again but tended to knap before bed time which upset bedtime 'settings' !

    Hi all,

Had even less last night, and spent the dodgy 5-6pm slot in the gym!

Feeling so much less anxious now and although we will be going out for a few drinks tonight, I'll be at the gym until 6:30pm so we don't start so early, and will hopefully be so worn out I'll be asking to leave :D

Hope everyone having a good Friday and here come the Euros! (European Championships [football] - for those who neither know nor care:p)

    Morning Everyone
June has been a bit of a slow start for me im afraid,, but managed an AF Fri so that takes my total to 4 AF please Shaggy for June.
I had been doing really well for a few months and felt more in control of my drinking that ever before but then it can slip quite quickly for me. Its a good reminder for me though, there is no room for complacency. When my drinking increases then it had such a negative impact on my eating ie i just eat crap and also i dont do any exercise which makes me feel even crappier. So i challenged myself to havin an AF Fri which i managed and as a result i ate healthily all day and then was up bright and early this morning and went for a run.
Havent heard much from Bearacus on here for a while, hope you doing okay. Thinking of you x
    Have a good weekend everyone

    Hi all!

Well it's been a few weeks at least since I last posted. Things have been very up and down since my Dads death but I feel like I am turning a corner. Up until last week I had been drinking drinking quite heavily but this last few days have been much better and I am sure that today will be my first AFD in a long time:)

I know I have said it before (on more than one occasion) but I really want to sort this out and change for the better...so fingers crossed that this time will be different!

Hope all is well with givers up and cutters down old and new :D

    Mari x
