I havn't been on for a while but I'm still here...just. I've managed 4AFD's for April so far and would like to remain TF please Shaggy.

My news is not great I'm afraid. My mum got rushed into hospital a week last Thursday with yet another infection. I took my son to see her on Fri night and she was chatting and seemed in good spirits. Unfortunately she took a turn for the worse on Sunday and by Monday morning the doctors said there was nothing more they could do for her. She was moved to the hospice on Monday afternoon, and my brother sister & I kept a rolling 24 hour vigil at her bedside.

Mum died very peacefully on Good Friday just before 5pm. I'd just gone home to have a shower, so I missed her passing...but I'm trying not to feel too guilty as I was there for most of the week.

I've not been AF since Fri evening and am still in a state of shock, even though she had been ill for such a long time. Because of Easter and the minister of mums church going away, the funeral will not be for a couple of weeks. Tomorrow I have to help my sister clear out my mums clothes which will be tough.

Sorry to put a bit of a downer on the thread............

rachelww1[- so sorry to hear your news
You have absolutely no reason to feel guilty, sure your Mum wouldn't want that
Just take each day as it comes
Sounds like you have some family support, so make sure you use each other
I don't believe in the afterlife etc, but she is at peace and out of pain

My dad died 2 years - we promptly drank all his home brew for him - he would have wanted us to, so we told ourselves :p

Thoughts are with you Rachelww1 and you family. I do hope that for all your sakes they are able to move the funeral forward a bit, 2 weeks away just seems so far away. As others have said try to take some comfort if you can, in that she is not in pain any more. Look after you x
