What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0

Hello everyone, my first time on here, been drinking every/almost every night for the last 6 months and its getting out of hand, at least a bottle of wine or half a bottle of vodka, sometimes more.
I just wanted to 'celebrate' 2 nights in a row not drinking - for the first time in 6 months - and (as far as I know) no-one else realises I have a problem (and I want to keep it that way) so thought I would come on here and tell you lot instead!!!
Am not sure about going AF altogether but I definitely want to get back to enjoying it just a couple of times a week.
The only thing that is worrying me is a friend told me of someone that had been drinking heavily for only 5 months, decided to give up and died 2 days later......anyone else heard something similar?0 -
Just passing by to say a quick hello.... 97 days drink free now and 67 days smoke free - feeling fabulous.
I've wobbled all over the place along the way - it's been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster....but I'm getting there.
OH who drank 5 bottles of whisky a week and smoked 10 packs of ciggies a week is now on week 3 of giving up both :j.....miracles do happen - I couldn't be more happy. Life has its little moments - he fell down and bought a bottle of whisky on Saturday and I emptied it in the flower bed- he accepted that and didn't drink.
So life is good but very busy. The old man I work for has been in hospital with pneumonia so I've been 24/7 looking after his 90 year old very frail wife, doing hospital visits and of course we have now hit Easter hols so it's all a bit tricky juggling - but I'm happy to be busy, working and looking after other people because it stops me from mooching about and getting sad.
Lots of hugs to anyone in need. Thankyou as always to everyone on here - you have helped me rebuild my life in such a positive way. I was looking forward to spring and being sober - it is amazing, our garden has never looked so fine and we have about 600 seedling flowers and veggies growing in the conservatory - yes.....I am a gardening nerd .
Shaggy - I'm not ever going to drink again - there's no way I would go back to that horrible horrible place. So I'm not going to worry you with the targets anymore. But thankyou a million times over for running it - it was one of the biggest things which pulled me through the first month of giving up
thankyou.0
