his advice was to try not to become a "dry drunk"......i.e. addressing the drinking bit without really getting help/ investigating why I drank in the first place. Its complex huh ?

Agree it can be complex and I certainly wouldn't want to make light of anyone who drinks to cope emotionally, blot things out, fill a gap etc. However, I do think that for lots of people (and certainly I was one) drinking just became part of a lifestyle, a habit pure and simple.

10 AFDs for February and 1 for the SNC please.

Hope you managed your first night chilli red. :T to everyone who's been AF tonight, every one counts.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

  • Morning all

    16 please Shaggy!:)

I caught the panorama programme last night. Whilst parts of it were interesting, I don't think it addressed the "whys" very much. I've read Ann Robinsons autobiography and think she could probably have been interviewed a lot better. But hey ho, I guess anything that makes people think about whether they drink too much has got to be good in some way??:undecided

Good morning all. The wanderer returns :o

Been sat here this morning thinking about how much input I gave to this board over the last couple of years and how many days I have wasted with a hangover. My life used to be a mess, I was unhappy in my marriage and I drank daily to blot it all out then spent the next day busy recovering from the night before to do it all again.

I am now no longer in that marriage, life has moved on, I have a supportive partner whom I live with and I no longer have any of the reasons I had to drink. So why do I?

Suppose I better say it 'out loud'. I am currently drinking 6 cans of stella minimum daily. I have no effect from these, neither do I get drunk or do I have ill effects the following morning.

This has now got to stop. Have no idea where I'm going to get the strength from? Have to see what happens when the beer bell goes later.

Time is limited at the moment and so I haven't had a chance to read back but I hope that all is well with everybody? Notice a couple of oldies still about ;)

I'll try and pop back later when the bells are clanging.

    xx

Morning AF last night as promised

Avoiding drink due to emotional distress - I have been there before it is the beginning of a slipper slope for me so best avoided.

Not seen the Panorama program but intend to catch up on iPlayer later.

    Have a good day peeps.
