Good to see you jumped back on the wagon MissP.:T
Even with a limited bit of drinking last night I missed the end of two programmes by falling asleep at crucial point. And I woke up in the night with a dry mouth. Why????? Definitely AF today.
Thank you maman!:)
Dry mouth is one of my problems when I've had a drink - I've been known to get through a litre of water in the middle of the night!**Keep Calm and Carry On!**0 -
Hi all.
Another AF here this evening!
I am pretty sure that i wont be drinking all week, but i dont want to commit to the SNC just in case
Definitely wont be able to drink on Friday night as i am off to London early on saturday morning. I will have to be up at 6.30am to catch a bus at 7.30. Then a train at 9am, which gets into London at 12.30pm.
Will be in London until 4pm and then have to do the journey home again, which is the same amount of time!
Not looking forward to the journey, but its really important that i go. I am looking forward to the actual event that i am attending, but its really important that i dont drink the night before so that i am bright eyed and busy tailed in the morning!0 -
Looking forward to Panorama in half an hour mainly as Alistair Campbell is my guilty pleasure!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Really interesting programme. If you missed it, I'd recommend catching it on iplayer. Clouds (the rehab place in the programme) is where John Coates of 'No Big Deal' fame is from.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Hi all,
Long time, no posts.......half term seems to have absorbed me recently.
Interesting to watch the Panorama programme tonight - mixed feelings about it really regarding new vs old news that we've all heard before.
What was really interesting for me was the piece about Clouds.
My brother was treated there for alcoholism in 2005 and has been dry since. He was dubious about the treatment initially but turns out it saved his life........
I don't question him too much about his addiction as it's part of his "old life" but interestingly we were talking recently about how I am trying to moderate alcohol in my life and his advice was to try not to become a "dry drunk"......i.e. addressing the drinking bit without really getting help/ investigating why I drank in the first place. Its complex huh ?

Absolutely.
For me the first stage was identifying that I drank too much, then when I stopped trying to work out why I drank. Drink for me had been a way of deadening uncomfortable feelings I had about myself, past, life anything that I didn't really feel comfortable with. Like in the programme he took up running, a new addiction to take over from drinking. Whatever you 'use' food, sex, gambling, booze, exercise, street drugs, they are all going to come back and bite you on the !!!! if the underlying issues aren't dealt with. That's why for some it is so much easier to carry on being in denial. Recovery...and by that I mean emotional and spiritual healing so that you don't need an addiction is hard work.
I loved the bit in the film where it said....go about your normal life as you live it now for two weeks without booze, change nothing, people, places etc just cut out the booze. I wonder how many of us would find that life fulfilling?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I was very disappointed with the Panorama programe, nothing new at all.I cant imagine anyone who watched that will be looking at their drinking habits.Sobriety delivers everything Alcohol promised.
