Have a great Saturday evening all, i need to go and start making my chilli con carne...mmm, yummy!
That's what we had last night too - with baked potato! Great food when it's so cold outside.....What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Thanks for that very insightful post 365.
One thing that this thread has taught me is that there are lots of different attitudes/relationships with alcohol and, as such, lots of different ways of dealing with it. I'm confident that I'm in the 'bad habit that went with a lifestyle' camp but others seem to have more of an addiction. It's really difficult to choose the right words but I do believe each is different. I think it's as wrong to suggest everyone who drinks too much is an alcoholic as it is to suggest that anyone can stop after a couple. I think an analogy may be to compare being a bit grumpy and miserable with being clinically depressed (and all places between).
Have a good day all, and keep warm!!!
So true Maman. We are all different, and so is our drinking.
I searched for over a decade to find a stop button, and still could not find mine. So I have come to the conclusion that it doesn't exist for me or if it does, I haven't located it yet.
Thus only 'safe' amount of alcohol I can put in my body is zero.
When I have a drink, I cannot guarantee I will stop drinking after say 2 drinks, or 7pm, etc
All bets are off with me.
The other thing I have to look at is my inability NOT to drink if the mood takes me. I have had days where I swore to myself (and sometimes others) that I wouldn't be drinking 'today' or 'this week'. I'd sometimes manage it, sometimes not. I am never in control where alcohol is concerned, in regards to if I drink or not, and how much I do drink when I have that first one.
There is nothing wrong with alcohol at all.
The problem is when alcohol is in my mind or in my body, that's when my difficulties start.....
Have good days people - loadsasnow in London! :eek:0 -
Good Morning!
1 AF for me please Shaggy! It was mostly due to a horrendous cold but hey, I'll take that. Today will be fine as I am still coldy, plus DH is home - it's when I am alone that temptations hits most. Why is that? Boredom?
My main goal tomorrow will be to resist BUYING wine during the day. If it ain't here, I can't drink it, right? The beers/spirits that DH has in don't tempt me half as much as a glass of white.
I hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday, M x0 -
Good morning all
Hope everyone is nice and warm! Not too much snow here last night - just enought for Piglet, Stepson and my Dad to have a snowball fight last night!:D
Think I had a 24 hour bug yesterday - felt very "off" all day yesterday and then last night I was up between 1 and 4 feeling cold, shaky and achy. Took pills, curled up on sofa with a book and a cup of coffee. Feeling bit better today.
We had a great tme last night playing our board games - Piglet thrashed us AGAIN at junior monopoly!!:rotfl:
Have good sundays everyone!

Hello, had a small glass of wine last night with DH last of a bottle opened from over a week ago for the parental types! It is amazing that a year ago that would nt have lasted the night it was opened.

I think that's allowed missrlr, you're hardly going to get legless on casserole!:rotfl:
Interesting that alcohol is in the news again today. I just scanned Shaggy's link and apparently we're all going to get a leaflet with advice on how to cut back. I can't wait! perhaps they should just publish the address of this site and point them to our thread!:rotfl:
Shared wine with DH at the pub last night and had something to eat while the footy was on.
Came home, poured a glass but didn't finish it. Consumption is definitely down here even on planned days.;)
No snow here at all. Planning a lovely roast and a couple of glasses then firmly back on the wagon tomorrow.
May I have 4 for the SNC please Bearacus?0 -
Is it me or does that article contradict itself many times? I know the main message is alcohol is bad bu the limits and the risks with varying levels are to say the least badly worded.Start info Dec11

Someone has just posted on the Disability and Dosh board about wanting to give up drinking - I've pointed them here.
Evilsquid - try a mixer with no caffeine - you can get decaffeinated coke or use lemonade instead.
AF still and will be AF tonight - won't be going back out in the freezing weather now and have none in house.
Have a good Saturday everyone.
ETA 365 - that's exactly what I think - my stop button starts at zero. For those who can stop after a predetermined or moderate amount I think that's marvellous but it's not me. Am learning to accept it and definitely don't want to go back to where I was
Bit disappointed as only 1AF in Feb, but I am managing to have just a glass or 2 and not finish the bottle. Was give 2 bottles of wine as a present this week; that's my excuse for not being AF, but really any excuse will do!
On the plus side I have been swimming every day but 1 and am now up to 40 lengths. Feel much fitter and people are beginning to notice I have lost weight.:T
Plan to be AF 2night, but there is a bottle of wine somewhere in the house and the bell are already ringing. I must stay strong and focused. Wish me luck for 2 night and good luck 2 everyone else on their path to healthy drinking, (Or Not,)- Target 4snc
Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life!
No buying unnecessary clothes even if they are reduced.0 -
Hi all
It will be another AF here this evening.
Took the kids out to lunch and was tempted to have a glass of wine with my meal, but the kids asked me not to, so i didnt. Besides, i was driving, and although i wouldnt be over the limit with just 1 glass, it always goes to my head so i'd rather be safe than sorry!
Has anyone heard from Crazymum?
Well done to everyone on their AF's, and finding your stop buttons (whether thats none at all, or just a few glasses).
Peterbunny, feel free to come on this thread oif the bells get too strong, then is normally someone to moan to, i have done so on several occasions and have even been known to stamp my feet and have a tantrum...look back through the thread and you may see my 'I WANT WINE' post :rotfl:
Well done on the weight loss too!!
Miss Piggy- sorry to hear you have all been poorly, hope you are feeling better soon!
Bearacus can you please put me down for the full monty in the weeks SNC.
As always, thanks to Shaggy and Bearacus for keeping score, its very much appreciated.
Thanks everyone, and have a good day!!0
