I'm in for the SNC
ty0 -
Bearacus - I think I may need to revise my overenthusiastic 5 days
to 4 days please for the SNC (having read your thread).
365 days - thankyou....it could have been me telling parts of your story - I only hope in the years to come I can tell the rest of it.
I have bought the book(on amazon). In trying to wipe alcohol from my life, I am needing to frantically read anything I can about addiction - I think this may be the book I need to make sure I never ever drink again and set up plans to make sure of it - I've read about the 12 steps, considered AA meetings a while back but never actually got there - thankyou.
If I could recommend a book to anyone about alcohol - 'The Easy Way to stop Drinking' by Allen Carr has helped me a lot.0 -
Cleggie  ......wow, go cleggie, go cleggie - I will be right there beside you as I'm hoping (desperately) for a whole month AF.....
and woohoo let's aim for the stars :j0 -
Thanks crazymum.
i desperately want to abstain from alcohol for at least 6 months, with the view of being teetotal long term. But for now i am just taking 1 day at a time.
I think i have addiction in my genes as my Dad is as close to being an alcoholic as i can think of. he was always drunk when i was a kid.0 -
I opened my diary this morning and found a year planner on the inside cover so each time I have an AF day, I shall place a tick in the box for that day :j I wonder how many ticks I shall have come the end of the year ??
I don't have much on this month so hoping to beat my AF target of 25 days. I may be out at the weekend. What do you drink when you go to the pub? I get cross that the choices for non alcoholic beverages are expensive ! and are limited in choice. Also coke / lemonade on tap never tastes very nice and is vastly overpriced
I also think that if you are the designated driver, you shouldn't have to pay for your drinks.
I'm suffering the back to work blues and would usually mark the end of the weekend/end of a holiday with a drink or two... but I want to be able to add another tick come the end of the day so intend to stick with the soft drinks :j0 -
I'm hoping to be teetotal as well - 1 day at a time is the best way forward.....this morning I was feeling so good. This afternoon I'm feeling like I would really like a drink tonight, one of my problems is I would just like to go to bed now so that I don't drink.... but I have to put my two youngest to bed first....which means I have to stay up until 8.30pm.
I need the AFD, the tick, the knowledge that I will get there....
Cleggie - my Dad was a drunk as well, he used to pass out he was so drunk. I love him to bits - he's not very well now, not very well at all and still drinks but can't drink very much these days or he lapses into a coma.....still drinks. Crazy boy.
My brothers have it in them too - my eldest brother gave up for years and has now gone back to drinking.
I want to give it up forever.
Tomorrow my friends I shall be asking for another AFD to add to my totals....positive thinking  good luck and stay strong0 -
Hi all.
Crazymum- i fee like i could do with a drink too this evening. Almost went to the supermarket and got some, but am so determined not to, so went and did some tidying up instead, to take my mind off it.
I am drinking fizzy squash from a wine glass instead (thanks 365days for that tip!). I know at some point the cravings will stop, so its all good
I keep thinking that i managed to quit smoking 16 months ago, so i CAN deal with cravings. Its quite a scary comparison really.0 -
Happy New Year All.
I read a fantastic book John Coates-No big Deal which i recommend to anyone thinking of quitting completely.
Great posts, thx 365days.......
You should charge Amazon commission - I've just ordered the book too
